What does "sustainable manufacturing without any compromise on function or quality" mean?

In 1993, Patagonia began making fleece from recycled plastic bottles. . Since then, we have released many products that reuse resources that would have ended up in landfills. . Patagonia has never compromised on function or quality, even while using more recycled materials. Patagonia is inventing a new way to make sustainable products based on this philosophy.

The Re∖∖∖∖ Collection, which will be available for the Fall/Winter 2016 season, is the latest collection of Patagonia products to use the most recycled materials ever. . It is made from a truly diverse combination of recycled materials, including down, wool, polyester, labels, zippers, buttons, and more. These innovative garments are resource-efficient, warm, comfortable, and recyclable at the end of their useful life.

This collection is the result of an experiment in creation and responsibility .

." said Miles Johnson of the Product Design Department. . from the insulation to the outer materials, to the buttons and drawcords, this collection is the result of an experiment in creativity and responsibility. And to prove his point, all the materials are recycled through a truly creative and painstaking process.

1. Recycle Down

The cornerstone of the collection, recycled down, is a combination of 600-fill-power goose and duck down recovered from used products that cannot be resold, and boasts the same superior warmth as virgin down. By plucking the down and other materials used from the garbage, we have succeeded in ensuring that waste is reduced.

2. recycled wool

Recycled wool is a fiber made from discarded wool sweaters that have been cut up and reused. The recycled wool (60%) is combined with recycled polyester (30%) and blended with recycled nylon (10%) for added durability. By going through a process that includes sorting and blending the colors of the dyed wool material, a new dyeing process is eliminated. . As a result, the use of water and chemicals is reduced, and wastewater is reduced.

3. recycled polyester

Recycled polyester is made from used plastic bottles, materials that are no longer usable in the manufacturing process, and worn-out clothing (including Patagonia products). Products in the Re∖∖∖∖ Collection are made from a wide variety of forms, including warm, high-loft fleece made from 100% recycled polyester, smooth linings and outer fabrics, zippers, buttons, drawcords, and even Patagonia branding. drawcords, and even Patagonia brand labels.

. the most extensive collection of recycled materials to date.

. It is no small feat to maintain the highest quality standards while using as many recycled materials as possible. The Re-∖∖∖ Collection is the culmination of Patagonia's efforts to meet this challenge. Although the goal of 100% recycled material has not been reached because some parts did not pass rigorous quality testing, this collection contains the largest amount of recycled material of all the products we have produced to date.
