Huynem Ski Club ♡, the first volume of skiing in Shizukuishi.

It's getting colder. The long-awaited winter sports season has arrived. It's time for our handsome Huinamu Ski Club to start its activities, and the first report of the 2017-18 season starts with a two-day and one-night ski tour report to Shizukuishi Ski Resort in Iwate Prefecture. This time, by chance, contemporary artist Ken Kagami also joined the tour! Blessed with great weather and snowfall, we were able to enjoy beautiful scenery and great snow to our heart's content.

The setting is Shizukuishi Ski Resort in Iwate Prefecture. Take the Shinkansen to Morioka!

Hui-Nam Ski Club ♡ will soon celebrate its second anniversary since its inauguration in January 2016. This time we headed to Shizukuishi Ski Resort in Iwate Prefecture. We will get off at Morioka Station, about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Tokyo Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen Line, and drive to the site by rental car.

There were a total of five members on this tour. Issei Enomoto (writer/photo left), Hiroshi Yamamoto (deputy editor-in-chief of Huinum/second from right), Ken Kagami (artist/right), and although not pictured, photographer Misato Matsufuji and her friend and MINKPINK assistant designer Maria Okawa (second from left).

After a 40-minute drive from Morioka Station, we arrived at the Shizukuishi Ski Resort. First, we checked into the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel, where we would be staying this time. The ski resort is just a stone's throw from here.

Kagami and Yamamoto, perhaps excited by the snow after a long absence, shake hands mysteriously on the snow.

This is the view from a guest room at the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel. Outside the window is a silvery white world.

You can rent a complete set of gear, so you don't need to bring anything!

Let's get to skiing! So, after checking in, we headed to the Salomon Station located inside the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel. At Salomon Station, you can rent skis and snowboards, as well as a variety of gear such as clothing, gloves, and goggles.

This is my first time skiing, so I don't know what's right or left. ...... Even if you are such a beginner, don't worry. The staff, who are experts in gear selection, will give you friendly advice.

All the equipment has been maintained by skilled staff for your safety. You can enjoy the best of Shizukuishi's snow even if you come empty-handed from Tokyo. Once you experience this convenience, you will never go back.

Riding the ropeway, it was time to hit the slopes!

Once you have your gear at the Salomon Station, head to the slopes. Take the ropeway to the halfway up the slope of Shizukuishi Ski Resort. The ropeway station is located right next to the hotel, so the line of flow is smooth. This is how adult skiers should ski, right?

Shizukuishi Ski Resort offers a wide variety of courses from beginner to advanced levels, including a long course with the longest run of 4,500 meters. A wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, can enjoy skiing and snowboarding to the fullest.

Functional and stylish! Salomon's latest snowwear.

All of Salomon's latest clothing is light, warm, waterproof, breathable, and has excellent functionality. You can enjoy skiing comfortably all day long without worrying about being cold or wet.

Aft skiing is also available. After taking a long bath, enjoy an elegant French dinner!

After a full day of skiing, return to the hotel and take a bath to warm up your cold body. The Shizukuishi Prince Hotel has an outdoor hot spring bath, which is free of charge for hotel guests.

After a long soak, we will have the dinner we have been waiting for! We will have a course meal at the French restaurant "Kobushi" in the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel.

The restaurant's atmosphere was luxurious and relaxed, and the food was elegant and delicate; although we cannot deny that the four of us felt a little out of place, our stomachs and hearts were very satisfied with the many dishes made with local ingredients. The fatigue from a full day of skiing was gone.

Enjoy the finest powder snow on a CAT tour!

Overnight, the second day of the tour will be a CAT tour! We will climb the snowy mountains in a snowmobile with caterpillars and enjoy powder snow on the non-pressured slopes.

It was the first time for all four of us to ride in a snowmobile. They are all smiling for the camera, but inside they are nervous.

Kagami poses after getting off the snowmobile. However, the unpressurized slopes were indeed too challenging for beginners, so he ended up going down the mountain alone in the snowmobile.

In contrast to the cloudy day before, the weather was clear and sunny! Yamamoto, Enomoto, and Maria were skiing down on the soft, unpressurized snow.

Powder snow feels great! The snow is so deep that your feet will get buried if you are not careful, but it is a great feeling when you ski well. It was a different kind of fun from the smooth, pressurized slopes.

So, our two-day and one-night tour to Shizukuishi came to an end. We were all very happy to have enjoyed Shizukuishi's excellent snow conditions and headed back home. We returned the skis and snowboards we rented to the Salomon Station on our way home. It was nice to be able to go home light since we didn't have to carry our skis and boots all the way home.

On the way back, we stopped at Koiwai Farm and enjoyed a bowl of their excellent soft-serve ice cream.

In addition, there are a total of 16 "Salomon Stations" nationwide that were used by the Huynem Ski Club ♡ this time. Details can be found on the website below, so please check them out if you want to enjoy fun and comfortable adult skiing this season.
