Second lecture Tomohiro Konno
I'm not crazy about the fading of the denim, which only the '80s could have done."

POLO RALPH LAUREN BLOUSON

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)My first item is a blouson by Polo Ralph Lauren. I think there are a lot of vintage clothing stores that carry the same type of colored denim these days, but I'm interested in this denim, because it has the faded look of 80s denim.

Fujiwara:The zipper is also an old type.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Yes. So I was looking at them with interest and found a model without embroidery on the chest.

chestnut fieldThis is rare.

mountain fieldIndeed. I don't think so at all.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)And when I was going to buy the one without embroidery, I saw this recent model next to it, so I bought it at the same time. This beige one has a military-like arrangement. It has underarm gussets and cuffs that the denim one doesn't have.

section (of an orange, etc.)Oh, really.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)If you look at this denim as the original, I think it's interesting to see how it has transitioned into this more recent version. I don't think it's that difficult to find.

section (of an orange, etc.)It certainly looks like it's still totally possible. But why are you interested in this model now, at this time?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Young customers wearing these colored items started coming to our store frequently. And the customer was wearing pink, which looked a bit like the 50s, and I thought it was something new and fresh. I started to pay attention to it and became interested in denim.

section (of an orange, etc.)How much does this cost now?

mountain fieldEven if we put it on, it's still 9,800 yen or so. Even in the U.S., denim costs twice as much. But I wonder why this has become so popular now?

chestnut fieldIt's a trend like Ojikazi (*Ojisan-style casual fashion), perhaps.

Fujiwara:Some years ago, a friend of mine bought a lot of "Polo Ralph Lauren," and at that time, he even said that only this (blouson) would not sell, but in the last few years, it has all taken off.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)From a clothing-making perspective, I think that the shirred ribs in denim are mostly a detail that appeared around the 80's. In the 70's, ribs were separated by ribs. It's not that I think it's good or bad, but simply that I was interested in it as a detail that only appeared in the 80's and after.

section (of an orange, etc.)80's stuff is really popular.

chestnut fieldWell, we live in an era when Hard Rock Cafe T-shirts sell.

I'm drawn to the short length and the irregular pockets."

FISHING JACKET

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)The second is a short length fishing jacket. The Babur jacket in the back is the "Spey Jacket," which is still available today, and the two in the front are from Redhead in the '40s. I think I can still find the beige one on the right, but the short type, especially on the left side, has not turned up at all.

mountain fieldBut are you going to wear this?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Yes, I have a short one. You wear the short one over the fatigues like a vest. Well, I also like vests, and I have a lot of vintage ones from other brands, but personally I think they are easier to wear than vests. The same goes for the spay jacket I wore today.

section (of an orange, etc.)This short length is unique to fishing jackets.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Yes. I think they are made to keep you dry even if you put on waders and go into the water. However, it seems that many of the hunting and fishing gear used these days is also used for other purposes.

Fujiwara:The tag also says [Fish Hunt Tex], and both fish and duck are depicted.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)I guess most of them are hunting brands that also made clothing for fishing.

section (of an orange, etc.)I see. But whether hunting or fishing, there is something about these irregular pockets that attracts me.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)That's right. However, the wear has been used in a variety of situations since its inception, and the fact that the selling price varies from store to store is one of the characteristics of this category.

section (of an orange, etc.)Indeed. I have the impression that the hunting and fishing categories in "Berberzine" are quite inexpensive.

mountain fieldIt doesn't sell, not to our customers.

chestnut fieldOurs is old and with unusual details, and it's about 30,000 yen. This area has always had the image of being more popular in Kansai.

mountain fieldThat's right. Where did you get that beige one?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)It is a secondhand clothing store called "Tredici" in Machida. It is run by a woman who used to frequent "Berberzine" as I recall.

chestnut fieldHe was originally from "Eugo" in Kashiwa.

mountain fieldAh, Isahai, is that you? He's a fashionable guy, isn't he? And the short one?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)I believe it is Taka's place in LA, which I love.

mountain fieldOh, Taka-chan. I wanted to have Taka-chan appear in "Vintage Summit" (laughs).

all of us(Laughter)

editorial departmentWho is it?

mountain fieldWell, I'll bring him in sooner or later (laughs).

I thought, "It's not bad to have secondhand clothes that have been touched by people."

60's HANES WIND SHIELD PARKA

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)The third is the "Windshield Parka" by . I bought it at "Berberzine. I was initially attracted to it because of the amount of damage, but when I actually tried it on, it was really falling apart. Fortunately, the damage had not progressed to the inside of the thermal, so I asked "ciicali" in Kobe to repair it for me.

mountain fieldIt was cool as it was, though.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Yes, but it was indeed too damaged to wash.

section (of an orange, etc.)It's hard to fix this.

Fujiwara:This is a tough job. I'm repairing only the sweatshirt part after properly removing the thermals once.

section (of an orange, etc.)Eh, really.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)When I came back from fixing it and saw it, I became more and more attached to it because of the human touch.

chestnut fieldNo, when I first saw it, I thought it was made by Konno.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Oh, yes. It's also a large size (46), so you can wear it as you do now. The tucked-in part is surprisingly flat, so it doesn't feel stiff when you wear it.

chestnut fieldThe ribbed part is also very well done, isn't it?

mountain fieldWell, the body itself was '60s, but it was one-of-a-kind. Unique to vintage clothing.

chestnut fieldForty-six is not a common occurrence, and the fact that it was a back-up thermal is why it remained, albeit in tatters. It must have been the result of a combination of conditions.

'Rare model seen for the first time, a rare pion made in the 90's.'

90's CHAMPION REVERSE WEAVE

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)The last one for me is "Champion," or "Chimpion.

mountain fieldHe bought the navy one from us, but it's very rare. The body is not reverse weave, but the tag says reverse weave. The arms are raglan sleeves and there are no side gussets.

chestnut fieldI sometimes see the reverse, though. It's a reverse weave, but it has a tag that is not for reverse weaves.

Fujiwara:I think it is indeed rare. It was the first time for me to see it.

section (of an orange, etc.)Not an irregularity?

mountain fieldNo, I don't think it's irregular. I have never seen sweatshirts made by Champion of the same age, other than reverse weave, that are usually round-bodied with side stitching (front and back are sewn together on both sides). If there is such a thing, it would be a sample, not an irregularity.

chestnut fieldI see.

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)This gray one is also rare. I've seen similar mock-neck type models with side pockets a few times, but I've never seen this chest cut-out.

section (of an orange, etc.)I wonder what this is. Is it a football or something?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)I know it's football style, it's made in the 90's, but I have to admit I have no idea of the details.

section (of an orange, etc.)Isn't it expensive?

the recently departed (and buried or cremated, etc.)Yes, it is. I think it was something like 7,800 yen. Anyway, "Berberzine" has a lot of Champion sweatshirts, doesn't it? When I look through that rack from one end to the other, I see slight differences, and I want to be sure of those slight differences, so I end up buying many more (laughs). (Laughs) I have quite a lot of Champion sweatshirts on hand, not just the ones I brought this time.

mountain fieldThat gray one is also the one that came out of Taka-chan's place in LA.

editorial departmentTaka-chan is out again. Who in the world are you? (Laughs)

And that was the end of the first half. Mr. Yamada was a bit tipsy from this point on. Will this crosstalk come to an end without a hitch? The second half will be uploaded soon, so please wait for it!
