Satoki Inada

Loved by a wide range of people in its home country
National Brand.

. First of all, I would like to ask you, Mr. Matsuzawa. Originally born in the U.K., what kind of people in Japan have accepted "Karimar" and how has it been used in Japan?

Matsuzawa:In the past, "Kalimar" had a strong image in Japan as a full-fledged alpine backpack brand, but in its home country of the U.K., "Kalimar" was and still is a national brand that is popular not only in the mountains, but also in everyday life and on trips. In its home country of the United Kingdom, however, the brand was and still is a national brand that is popular not only in the mountains, but also in everyday life and on vacations, etc. Since the 2000s, the brand has started planning in Japan and has gradually expanded its user base, creating a series of products that suit the body shape and preferences of the Japanese people. The brand has come to be loved in a wide range of scenes as in the UK.

Matsuzawa-san, how did you first encounter Karimar?

Matsuzawa:When I was 20 years old, a senior mountaineer gave me a backpack, which was my first " Kalimar ". That was almost half a century ago. At the time, my impression was that it was a big, sturdy backpack.

You have used many backpacks from "Kalimar" since then, haven't you?

Matsuzawa:Yes, I do. I enjoy hiking, climbing, skiing, and many other outdoor activities, and my "Kalimar" backpack is with me in all of them.

The "pursuit of rationality" is the only way.
The quintessence of "Karimah.

Mr. Matsuzawa, you have been involved in the development and production of "CALIMAR" backpacks for a long time.

Matsuzawa:My career with Karimar began 32 years ago. Some time later, Mike Parson, the son of the founders Charles and Mary Parson and the second president of the company in Japan, came to Japan and told me, "If you want to sell Kalimar products, you must become a rucksack specialist. He gave me a thorough lecture on the philosophy behind Kalimar's rucksacks, including the placement of the back pad, the shape of the shoulder harness, and the concept of the back length.

What became clear to me once again was that "Kalimar" backpacks are born from the pursuit of thorough rationality. The origin of the word "Karimar" is "carry more," but it is not just a slogan. Based on an understanding of how the human body is made, where the bones are located, where the muscles are located, and how the nerves work, "Karimar" rucksacks are made to be more comfortable and less tiring.

The origin of "Kalimar" is to be able to carry a load comfortably on the back in any field. This identity lives on in all of the brand's products, even though the times have changed.

A backpack made by "Kalimar" from the 1970s to the 1980s. Even today, the high quality and durability of these backpacks can be felt.
It is also beautiful in its used appearance!

Catalogs from the 1970s to the 2000s. Mr. Matsuzawa used to be involved in the production of these catalogs.
