In the last issue of "Unplugged," we visited a craft workshop in Shizuoka and closely followed a day in the life of its director, Mr. Yumoto. I was fascinated by his commitment to his products and his personality, and I fell in love with him even more. Mr. Yumoto is naturally surrounded by interesting local people and creators. This shirt was made in collaboration with graphic artist Nigel Graf, with whom Mr. Yumoto has a close relationship both publicly and privately, and the check pattern is an original pattern hand-drawn by Nigel himself. I love Champion sweatshirts, especially reverse weaves, and I still buy more when I find something I like. I have acquired quite a few sweatshirts so far, including vintage ones with old tags, oddly shaped rare ones, and ones printed with my favorite motifs, but the recently created heritage collection "True to the Archives" was a model I had never seen before. The three pieces shown here are the first "RABART" sweatshirt in Champion's history, the first reverse weave model from 1938, and the second reverse weave model that was remodeled in 1952. The differences are obvious when compared to the current version, and each has many unique details. The first model I got first was a seamless shoulder with no seam on the shoulder and both V's . How much would they be priced if they were to appear on the vintage market? With that kind of feeling, I just want to thank Champion for bringing these sweatshirts back to the modern age.
