Michelle, a director and buyer, opened the online-only store "blanche market" with her partner last year. She has attracted attention not only for her buying based on her excellent aesthetic sense, but also for her unique hair style and menswear-like dressing style.
Michelle, please tell us about your latest fashion obsession.
This season, I am particularly interested in items with patterns and bold colors. When I go overseas to buy, I find many unusual clothes that I don't often see in Japan, which makes me want to try new outfits every time.
So, did you like the plaid set-up you chose this time?
Yes! Pants-style set-ups are starting to become a bit more common among women these days, and the timing was just right for me to be interested in them. And since they were in my favorite blue tone, it was easy to coordinate them. I also like the loose-fitting size that only men's wear can have!
By the way, is there anything you were particular about in the styling this time around?
I also matched it with my recently dyed hair color (laughs)! I also added a touch of femininity by combining cute accessories around my wrists and neck while wearing street-like FACETASM's special-order Jordans on my feet.
I love the way you arrange your outfits, with the arms rolled up or tucked in, as is typical of Michelle.
The last thing I want is to dress like other people, so I always try to dress in a way that suits my own character, and I am conscious of how to dress without getting too caught up in the norm. Coordination can really change your impression with just a little bit of arrangement.
What kind of mood do you want to be in when you wear this set-up?
I usually wear plaid items often, so it looks good as a set-up as well as for stand-alone use. Jackets can be worn with light-colored denim pants, and slacks can be worn with gray knits. These highly versatile items are convenient to have in one set."
