Kiddill and the Seppuku Pistols share a common language called "punk.

On March 25, 2020, amidst the public confusion over the new coronavirus, a fashion show by the Japanese fashion brand "KIDILL" was held for the first time at the underground facility (under construction) at the west exit of Shibuya station, which was open to the public for the first time. The show was part of the "Shibuya Fashion Week," which promotes fashion and art from the streets of Shibuya, and in consideration of the situation in Japan, the show was broadcast live to no audience. . In the inorganic underground space, models in punk costumes gathered in the center of the stage and surrendered themselves to the music that was blaring there. At the epicenter of the sound was the Seppuku Pistols , an orchestra playing punk on Japanese instruments. A sharp, tingling air filled the venue, and a dramatic climax was reached amidst the tension in the air. In this issue, we present a conversation between Hiroaki Sueyasu, the designer who created such a stage, and Danko Iida of the Seppuku Pistols. The spirituality expressed in this show by these two men, who share the common language of "punk," was, after all, a straight line.

I think it was a very precious night in terms of timing.

Do you feel a sense of accomplishment from this show?

Suenan:. It's not so much that I feel a sense of accomplishment, but that I'm glad we were able to do this together. . Actually, it's been about 5 years since we met today.

Iida:Yes, I know, there's a bit of a pause.

Suenan:The exhibition is over and the Paris Collection is over, so I feel strongly that I could do what I wanted. Not only the Seppuku Pistols, but also other musicians have had their gigs postponed or cancelled. I am very grateful to them for doing what they did.

Iida:The show was less than 20 minutes long , but that length was a very good time to concentrate. I haven't seen it myself yet, so I don't know how it went. Looking at everyone's faces, I have a feeling that it was a success. I did feel a sense of exhilaration afterwards. I wanted to please Hiro-kun, who invited us like this, and I wanted to live up to his expectations.

Iida:Also, this may be an old story, but when cholera broke out at the end of the Edo period, wolf worship also spread. We also believe in wolves. In Shibuya, there is a shrine on Miyamasuzaka, and the guardian dogs are named after wolves, and the land is also named after the shrine. In this day and age, I think we were able to come up with a good prescription for the sound that Hiro-kun and I were able to release from the underground of the Shibuya area. So it was a great experience. In many ways, I think that people who are moving are pulling together and doing something.

Suenan:Yes, I agree. If this had been held a little later, we might not have been able to do it. I think it was a very valuable night when you think about it.
