Another Side, Another Story

How would working people play? B-side snapshot of Shibuya PARCO.
~October Edition~.

A menu that is not posted on the wall of a Machinuka restaurant may be delicious, a comedian may be better suited for radio than TV, or you may find a small corner of a person you have been reluctant to get close to. It is the things that do not usually appear on the surface that hide the true essence of a thing. It has been a year since Shibuya PARCO opened, but I am sure that there are still unknown possibilities lying dormant. The big turret is supported by many tenants, and by extension, by the people who work there. From this month, HOUYHNHNM's and GIRL HOUYHNHNM's will explore the charm of Shibuya PARCO through its "people"-the store staff. You will surely want to go and meet them ♡!

SIDE-A

Standing at 180cm tall, he stands out from the crowd in the spacious store. His squishy smile and sincere customer service are appealing. She is a big fan of musician Kenji Ozawa and likes his writings.

Shibuya below,
Reminds me of coffee back home.

How did you come to work here?

Sakurai:When I was in college, I studied "regional development" and "traditional culture" and wondered if I could somehow pass them on to future generations. I wanted to do this with something that could be incorporated into daily life, such as clothing, and that's when I found [Joon].BizvimI was doing everything I wanted to do, so I said, "This is it. It was doing everything I wanted to do, so I said, "This is it.

So you were hooked on Bizbim and decided to work there.

Sakurai:Yes, I worked at the main store for about two years after graduating from college, and was transferred here when the Shibuya Parco opened last year.

The rooftop on the 10th floor is planted with plants and benches to sit on. Not only the store's staff but also general customers are allowed to enter.

How is the customer base at the PARCO store compared to other stores?

Sakurai:The main store is located in the basement, so many people come here with a purpose, and of course they know the brand. Also, I would say that 70 to 80% of the customers were tourists from Greater China. Compared to that, my first impression was that there were many Japanese. Because the store is spacious, there are many people who stop by on a whim, families, and couples.

I guess it has something to do with the fact that there is a Pokémon Center on the upper floor.

Sakurai:Surprisingly, many children come to the store with character shoppers hanging from them. Perhaps it is because there is a penguin dust box that designer Hiroki Nakamura bought in Los Angeles on the outside landing, which can be seen from inside the store. It is quite popular.

Have you been shopping at Parco recently?

(Left) Hand cream ¥7,480+TAX, (Right) Hand gel ¥2,200+TAX

Sakurai:Yes, hand cream and hand gel at Santa Maria Novella on the 2nd floor. I use the lavender scented face cream and liked it so much I bought the new one. This one is lemon scented.

It's refreshing. Why lemon?

Sakurai:For some reason, I've been attracted to lemons lately. Come to think of it, it's also lemon water that I bring in my water bottle (laughs).

I'm sure you are very thorough with your skin care, water, and self-care. I'm sure there are others...

Sakurai:I also bought a facial cleansing cream at IPSA on the 1st floor. Being a store clerk by profession, I like to take care of my appearance.

You are a true gem. What do you do during breaks from work?

Sakurai:After eating dinner, we decided to go to "Light Up Coffee" on the 10th floor. I take out coffee and read a book or listen to music in the plaza right there.

Subsequence Vol. 3" is published by Mr. Nakamura, a designer at "bizbim" who has recently been reading the magazine during breaks. The contributors to this issue are just amazing," says Sakurai.

Why did you choose this place out of all the coffee shops in the area?

Sakurai:It's a long story...but it actually has to do with my graduation research at university. In my hometown of Yamanashi, the taste of water differs slightly from mountain to mountain, and I was making coffee and tea using this difference to create a new branding as a beverage of choice.

You were exposed to coffee with local roots.

Sakurai:Yes, I really like the coffee beans from Terasaki Coffee, which I learned about there, and Light Up's coffee beans are similar to that. It's like a third wave type of coffee. When I drink it, it reminds me of my time in Yamanashi and makes me feel at ease.

Thinking about Yamanashi on the rooftop overlooking Shibuya...very emotional. Do you always wear headphones on your ears when you take a break?

Sakurai:Yes, I have a pair of these. I bought these headphones about a month ago, and they are Sony noise-canceling headphones. When I listen to a good sound source with good headphones, I feel as if I am going to another dimension.

It's like a brief excursion. The new PARCO is also filled with tenants of many different genres and nationalities, so in a sense it feels like a trip.

Sakurai:Unlike in the past, I thought it was prepared for all kinds of people. There is a vegan store, a high-end butcher shop, a high-brand store, and a Pokémon center. I got the impression that rather than everyone heading toward a single happiness, each happiness was slowly mingling into a single point!

It is a poetic expression. I feel like I got to know Shibuya Parco from the inside. Lastly, what items do you recommend from "bizbim" for this season?

Sakurai:This is "Chamdo Fishtail Parka". It is a tibetan coat with a beautiful shoulder drop and is made by the mud-dyeing method only practiced on Amami-Oshima Island. It is military, but has elegance, and I recommend it. I can't tell you the name, but a celebrity tried it on...

I wonder who it is.... If you are interested, please catch Mr. Sakurai at the store. So, thank you very much for your time today!

PEERLESS.

Bizbim" respects the traditional techniques that Japan is proud of and brings them into the modern age as a means of product production. PEERLESS" means "peerless," and in addition to the aforementioned items, the brand also offers items that are not available at the directly managed F.I.L. store.
