Tell me the time.

Wild Turkey and Ayame Imaizumi Yu. And time to mature.

Bourbon is an adult's way of sharing quality time together . Many people may have this impression when they hear the word "bourbon. WILD TURKEY, known as the "King of Bourbon," has a superb bottle that seems to embody this image. The top-of-the-line Master's Keep series is produced in limited quantities under a different theme each year. This year, Wild Turkey Masters Keep Bottled in Bond ( or BIB), which has been aged for 17 years, was released. While sipping on this luxurious drink, we talked to Mr. Imaizumi, designer of the eyewear brand "ayame," about aging and how he chooses things. We learned that ayame's products have something in common with bourbon.

Wild Turkey Master's Keep Bottled in Bond . a period of maturity in the design.

A: This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ayame. How do you frankly feel about it?

Imaizumi:I have been working hard, but looking back, I realize how quickly the past 10 years have gone by. . I have no regrets because I have done everything to the best of my ability.

I hear that you are releasing some amazing models in this milestone year.

Imaizumi:We are releasing an 18-karat gold model. A pair of gold eyeglasses is like a pair made by a manufacturer that has been in business for 100 years, but no other brand of our size is doing it, and since "Ayame" is always challenging itself, we decided to take the plunge and make one. . After two years of meetings with the craftsman who handles the gold, we finally completed it.

ZIPANGU K18)" was produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary. . Everything from the pads to the screws is silver-gold, a full-length work of art. It comes with a cordovan case made by Horween and is sold in a sawtooth oak box made by a woodworker. They are currently checking the actual comfort of the product.

You started out with no experience in eyeglass making, didn't you?

Imaizumi:Yes . In the beginning, I didn't know what to expect, but I just wanted cool glasses that looked good on me, so I started out as a self-taught designer. I started designing every day, and through repeated attempts and failures, with the help of craftsmen, I was able to give shape to my designs. Since "Ayame" is smaller than other brands, I believe that our products are the result of repeated failures.

What is important to you when designing?

Imaizumi:We spend plenty of time until one product is completed. Once a design is completed, we continue to look at it for at least three months at the shortest, and only pick up and release products that we are still not bored with.

. You are talking about maturing the design.

Imaizumi:Yes, that's right. It took two years to complete the "NEWOLD," the first model released by "Ayame" 10 years ago. It took two years to complete the "NEWOLD," the first model released by Ayame 10 years ago, and it was quite popular at a recent exhibition. There are many standard models in the "Ayame" line, and I believe that there is an unchanging quality to them.

What do you think is the effect of taking your time on the design?

Imaizumi:Immediately after the design is drawn, it is a little stiff and needs to be softened. The joy and excitement of completing a design is great, but the way it looks after it cools down is more important. Even if you think the design looks cool, when you look at it after a short pause, you will find areas that can be improved. . I don't want to think that I could have made it better after releasing it.

Q. Is there anything else that is important to you when making eyeglasses?

Imaizumi:Since eyeglasses affect the impression of a person's face, we cannot make them half-heartedly. There are many people who like a pair of glasses and keep using it repeatedly or repairing it, so we place importance on continuing to make that model. If they were discontinued, we would run out of parts and would not be able to repair them. . So, by continuing to make the standard model, it helps to keep the look of the face the same. But we also update the standard models millimeter by millimeter for better comfort. That's something you can't know unless you let them mature.

Master Distiller Eddie Russell has carefully selected this 17 year old, rare 100 proof, ultra-premium bourbon from over 150 years of bourbon making history. This rare bourbon is made from only 17-year-old bottled bottles and only from bottles produced at a single distillery. It has a spicy, vanilla-like aroma, sweetness, and a fine roundness on the palate.

As the representative of "Ayame" and a designer, I'm sure there will be many moments when you will enjoy alcoholic beverages.

Imaizumi:. I like to drink, so it tastes good every day (laughs). But when I accomplish something, I feel it tastes even better. . When I come back from a business trip, I especially feel that way because I feel like I have accomplished something. Also, at the end of the year, when I have completed a year's work. After work has settled down, drinking is really great.

This BIB is made in accordance with the bottled-in-bond method, which certifies its high quality and rarity, and is made from only the original bourbon produced and casked at a single distillery 17 years ago. This is truly a miraculous bottle of the best of Wild Turkey's bourbon-making techniques and passion.

Imaizumi:I had never had such an aged bourbon before. . It is fragrant, deep in flavor, and has a long aftertaste. . Personally, I'd rather spend a luxurious time drinking it alone than with friends.

He mentioned his first Rolex Submariner as his "favorite item that has matured over the years. It was made in 1968. I've always wanted to own a Rolex. I made excuses to myself (laughs), but I took the plunge and bought it.

Do you drink a lot of bourbon?

Imaizumi:. I like whiskey, so I often drink bourbon as well. I know this is an old image, but I have the impression that bourbon is a luxury item for adults that is displayed in the homes of rich people. It was that longing that led me to drink whiskey (laughs). I used to drink bourbon a lot when I went to the U.S., but it was more casual, so I had no idea that it would develop such depth as it aged.

The mellow aroma is reaching this side of the room.

Imaizumi:After drinking BIB, I realized that the drinks I had thought were delicious were within a narrow range. It has a sweet vanilla-like flavor and a nice cherry-like aroma coming through my nose. If I had it at home, I would look forward to going home. It makes me want to go to my favorite bar and tell the master that I had this drink. I'm also looking forward to next year's Masters Keep Series.
