How would working people play? B-side snapshot of Shibuya PARCO.
~December Edition

A menu that is not posted on the wall of a Machinuka restaurant may be delicious, a comedian may be better suited for radio than TV, or you may find a small corner of a person you have always wanted to get close to. It is the things that do not usually appear on the surface that hide the true essence of a thing. It has been a year since Shibuya PARCO opened, but I am sure that there are still unknown possibilities lying dormant. The big turret is supported by many tenants, and by extension, by the people who work there. In HOUYHNHNM and GIRL HOUYHNHNM, we will introduce three such "people" = store clerks every month, and for the month of December, three people who have been leading the store for the past year will appear. You will surely want to go see them ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡.

SIDE-A

Wataru Ikejima / 3F ADAM ET ROPÉ HOMME

Store manager who has led the flagship Shibuya Parco store since its opening. He fell in love with 80's and 90's clothing and music when he was a student. SIDE-B We went to Berberzin to encounter agonizing clothing.

How did you come to the Shibuya Parco store?

Ikejima:I was originally at the Lumine store in Shinjuku, but when I found out there was going to be a store in Shibuya Parco, I really wanted to go there. When I talked to the manager, he told me to go to Futakotamagawa and get good results, because the men's department at Futakotamagawa was not doing so well at that time. But after I worked hard there and produced results, I was finally recognized and came here as the manager of the Shibuya Parco store.

I see that you had to go through such a long road to get here! It's been a year since the opening, and I guess you must be feeling a little bit better.

Ikejima:Yes, I am deeply moved. This time last year, things were pretty hectic, and I miss it now. The concept of the store was that it would be a flagship store, so to speak, where we could carry brands that were not available in other stores and do things that other stores could not do. I always wanted to be there, so now I am genuinely happy.

What made you decide to join the brand?

Ikejima:Since I was a student, I have always worn second-hand clothes, so I wanted to study beautiful clothes as well. I wanted to work with that kind of thing as a swing. I just hadn't gone through it myself, but there were many aspects that I liked when I actually worked there.

Do you have a favorite restaurant?

Ikejima:I go there at least once a day, so I know the staff very well. I go there at least once a day, so I know the staff very well. It was a Rolling Stones T-shirt, either from the 80s or 70s, and it cost about 40,000 yen. It was like a uniform T-shirt for the medical staff team at that time.

I found your "#Agony T" on your Instagram page.

Ikejima:I thought I would put up some cool T-shirts that would make you faint in agony, so I started doing that after the self-restraint. When I looked up "#Fainting in agony T-shirts," I happened to be the only one there, so I thought it was a good idea. I don't limit myself to secondhand clothing, but simply put up items that I think are good. So, brand-name items are also included.

Do you have a preference among vintage T-shirts?

Ikejima:First of all, I was shocked when I saw Nirvana and wondered why they were so cool even though they were dressed so dirty. Then I started listening to Eminem and other hip-hop bands, and I just fell in love with vintage clothing.

I especially like Nine Inch Nails, which I am wearing right now. Of course I like the band, but I also genuinely like the prints. I try to choose items that are not major brands, but that I don't think will be worn by other people.

He only listens to baby metal as Japanese music, and once went to a live concert wearing white paint.

Are there any other recent purchases?

Ikejima:I do quite a bit of shopping every month... I bought a 400,000 yen coat at my company's BIOTOP! I may be the type of person who buys the clothes I want with all my heart.

You are a very pleasant buyer, aren't you? Ikejima-san, where would you recommend to buy Christmas gifts at PARCO?

Ikejima:Of course we are, but "Santa Maria Novella" and "LOEWE" are also good. By the way, the hat I am wearing right now is by "LOEWE" (laughs).

Lastly, do you have any big news personally or for the store?

Ikejima:The manager of the ladies' store got married! The men's team went to "Puebuco" right in front of the store to celebrate by buying gorilla fluffy slippers. The husband used to work for the brand, and I used to work with him, so I was personally happy as well.

As I looked up from my photo shoot in Berberzin, a member of the Women's staff waved me down in a friendly manner.
