The subject of the first issue is the New Balance "990v5".
Focuses on aspects of the classic sneaker that cannot be conveyed in a magazine!
Lambda-san's new Series has finally started, can I ask you again how it started?
Lambda Takahashi ("Lambda"):Yes, that's right. As for how this project started, Namura, who is working for AUN PR and is present at this meeting today, is a junior colleague of mine from my days at BEAMS, and he was the one who connected me with HOUYHNHNM's. Originally, Com (Komuta), the editor-in-chief, and Bob (Ishii), the editor, have been good friends of mine for a long time, and I asked him again, "Well, let's do this project. He was the one who connected me with "Huinamu". Originally, the editor-in-chief, Mr. Kom (Komuta), and the editor, Mr. Bob (Ishii), have been good friends for a long time, and we decided to try this kind of project again.
Why did you start your personal video channel?Previous Interview.. It is different from the one I visited at the "Mie Prefecture" in Tokyo, isn't it?
Lambda:Yes . The studio has a new look. I talked to Hide (Hideki Asakura), the designer of Hobo, and he cooperated with me to create this set. I'm very grateful.
. Please let us know if there is anything else that you would change from your usual "delivery styling.
Lambda:I think the big difference is that I usually talk by myself, but here I have Konno-san (a writer) joining me in a talk session-like format.
It certainly seems to change the way we look at things. . Could you please explain the contents of this memorable first issue?
Lambda:The first subject is the "990v5" by "New Balance". Personally, I've been wearing "New Balance" a lot again lately, and I actually run in them, so I thought it was perfect.
You mentioned earlier that your original experience with "New Balance" was the "576.
Lambda:Yes , I think it was about 94 or 95 . I bought a pair of purple leather ones at a flea market. At the time, it was the most popular style to wear with the "Das Parka" by Patagonia. That was the best look for me at the time (laughs).
I feel like I'm getting a glimpse into the youth of a lambda boy (laughs).
Lambda:I was about 18 years old (laughs). After that, I started wearing "New Balance" with "Levi's Red. I remember I was dressed like that when I started working at the opening of "BEAMS JAPAN. Along with "All Star" by Converse and "Era" by Vans, "1300" and "576" by New Balance were standard items that everyone had to have a pair of. When I saw the seniors at BEAMS wearing New Balance so freely, I always thought, "So that's how it's going to be! I always thought, "Oh, that's how it's going to be!
. How do you feel about the "990v5" now that you have seen it?
Lambda:. it looks great, but first and foremost, it's made in the U.S.A. Everyone loves it, right? (Laughs). What is it about this charm? I always admire this kind of thing. I guess it's partly because I come from a vintage clothing store, but it has a nice ring to it. Bob also came from a vintage clothing store, so you know what I mean.
HOUYHNHNM Editorial Ishii:I understand so much. It's interesting that you still haven't lost that feeling.
Lambda:When I am looking for used clothing from Ralph Lauren or other brands, I tend to think, "I can't pay more than 5,000 yen for a pair from another country," but made-in-USA clothing has the power to make me think, "I wouldn't mind paying 10,000 yen for a pair. (Laughs) Even this "990v5" is not cheap, is it?
Aung PR Name Village:30,800 yen . Tax included.
Lambda:Yes, that's right. Nowadays, there are more and more sneakers made by maison brands, and it is not unusual to find sneakers priced at 50,000 yen or 60,000 yen, but I think they are more expensive for an athletic brand's in-line sneakers. But you can tell that they are handmade with great care, and the stitching and other details make you feel very attached to them.
Indeed. The expression and texture may be the point that especially appeal to "New Balance" lovers. . I look forward to seeing how you style them.
Lambda:Since this is a video, I thought it would be great if I could propose styling that you don't usually see in magazines.
What exactly do you think is going to be different from what we normally see in magazines?
Lambda:I think that magazines tend to focus on the performance of "New Balance". Like, "Let's enjoy this walking performance to the fullest! I think that's what magazines tend to focus on. However, what I want to show is the fashionable appeal of "New Balance. That's why I decided on the way the laces are tied and the tongue is placed. Everyone knows that "New Balance" is extremely functional and comfortable, but I wanted to show how to incorporate that into a cool fashion statement in the first "for HOUYHNHNM" issue.
You have created two looks for us. Could you briefly introduce each of them?
Lambda:The first one is a wooden sweatshirt from 77 Circa, blue denim from Tom Wood, and a CPO jacket over it.
