We asked that skate store about the new Vans line.

the other dayThis articleSkate Classics, a new line of skateboarding-focused shoes from Vans, as reported in "Skate Classics. The model, which has been updated in all areas, was created based on a vast amount of feedback from skaters. So how comfortable are they? The staff of a skate store in Tokyo actually wore them for a few days before the shoot and gave us their honest impressions. If they are easy to ride on a skateboard, they should be easy to wear in everyday life as well!

From left to right: Tsuyoshi Fujita, Shion Hashiguchi, and Sho Ohata.

What kind of image do you have of "Vans"?

Fujita:I think the design is much less blurred and much simpler.

Hashiguchi:We've been selling the "Old School," the "Authentic," and the "Slip-On" shoes as staples for a long time. So, as a user, it's great that I can continue to wear the same shoes. I always wear "Vans" shoes. The skaters on the team are super cool, too.

Ohata:The riders you belong to look good. It's cool that he's skating in a manly way.

Fujita:Everyone from legends to up-comers.

Ohata:When I see them, I want to wear them myself.

Fujita:I also like the grip of the waffle sole. It makes it easy to feel the board when I am riding.

Hashiguchi:I too like the waffle sole. It's easy to get a feel for the board and feel safe.

Ohata:The waffle sole was slightly softer this time, right? Even though it was new, it fit my foot right away.

Hashiguchi:The uppers are also very strong.

Ohata:I do think the canvas is stronger than the inline model. I thought I might get a hole if I skateboarded normally until today's shoot, but I didn't.

Fujita:It's true, it's very durable.

Ohata:I wanted to drill a hole because I didn't want people to think I wasn't slipping (laughs).

Fujita:If it's a regular canvas fabric, there's usually a hole in it in a day.

The waffle sole and canvas fabric are new, and the overall durability has been improved.

Ohata:Like shoes other than Vans, they get ruined easily when skateboarding, so I'm all for increased durability.

Fujita:I replace them about once a month, so that helps.

Do you notice anything else when you actually ride a skateboard?

Ohata:I like the insole. The insole is good, and the part of the sole is raised. I've only worn Vans "Half Cabs" until now, and I haven't worn "Pro Skates" before the update, so it's easy to feel the difference. When I tried on the "Pro Skate" before, they didn't fit my foot height. But when I tried on the "Skate Classics" this time, I felt almost no difference.

The insoles are also effective, and the wooden form has been fine-tuned to make the upper a little higher.

Fujita:In my opinion, the hold felt a bit strong. But this one (Skate Classics) went in easily.

Hashiguchi:It doesn't feel tight. The sole has a nice sheen to it.

Also, the unevenness of the toe tape is a little deeper.

Fujita:Maybe that's another reason why the grip was so good.

Ohata:I look forward to the addition of the "Half Cab" to the "Skate Classics"!
