First of all, "Hi-Socks Skateboarding" is participating in the "Vans Showdown," which is currently being held by Vans throughout Asia, and has made it to the finals. Stores from different countries that have passed the qualifying rounds compete with their video works to determine the number one store in Asia, and how does it feel to have made it this far?
TK:We all love Vans, so we put our love into our work. I hope we can achieve a good result.
McKee:We needed the space because the designated section was large, and we shot it in a warehouse where the weather was not a factor.
TK:I wanted to make a video work rather than a skating video, so I decided to do something interesting rather than just skating. . The concept was to create an image of skating in a shoe box. . It starts with a scene where you enter a box that is placed in a store.
McKee:I thought that even if I made a crazy good video, I wouldn't be able to win because the overseas stores were so skilled. I also thought that the reason Hi-Socks qualified was not so much skill but rather theme, so we came up with a concept together with that feeling.
Waghli:Not all stores are eligible to participate, so we were happy that VANS Japan approached our store.
TK:Everyone in the store participated in the "Vans" wear test, and I was hoping that the "Vans" and I could help each other, so I'm glad that we were able to win this way.

You all have such a great love for "Vans," but what is your impression of "Vans"?
McKee:They are so cool. I admire professional skaters who wear them, so I wear them.
Waghli:When it comes to skate shoes, "Vans" is the name of the game.
When you flip over the tongue of the "Skate Classics," it says "World's #1 Skateboarding Shoes.
Waghli:It's true . There is no doubt about it!
TK:I have been wearing them since I was in elementary school. Of course, the first pair of skates I ever bought were the same. Vans" had a punk image, and I myself was a punk fan, so I used to wear them a lot.
Do you all have a particular passion for "Vans"?
McKee:When I wear "Vans," I only wear models with a surf line design. Because of this, I can tell at a glance that they are "Vans," and more importantly, they are cool.
Waghli:I may not wear black very often.
TK:. I am not particularly particular about what I wear, and I wear them because they are all cool.
How did you like the renewed "Skate Classics"?
TK:. I love the checkerboard from [Vans]. . I even have both red and black checkerboard "slip-ons. . It's nice to have such a checkerboard accent.
Waghli:The tag here , is eye-catching.
McKee:They are great, and they feel great on my feet. The cushioning is better, so it's more comfortable to wear. Personally, I can't find any bad parts.
TK:It gripped better than before, didn't it?
The rubber material has been changed, and the pattern of the waffle sole has been changed, so the grip and durability have been improved.
TK:I also shoot skating, so I do foot brake a lot. . If the grooves are shallow, they get pitted quickly, so it's nice that they are less prone to wear and tear.
The insoles are now ergonomically patterned.
Waghli:The sole area was in good shape.
TK:Yes, I agree. The insole itself can be removed, which is a nice feature. Also, the inside of the heel. The checkerboard is a nice touch that you can't see.
Waghli:. I also like the fact that the band connecting the shoe tongue is red.
TK:By the way, does the name change to "Skate Classics" mean that you are going to focus more on skateboarding than ever before?
Yes, that's right. The model names were changed from "Old School Pro" and "Authentic Pro" to "Skate Old School" and "Skate Authentic". And besides skate, surf and BMX were also divided into specialized pro lines. For example, in BMX, the sole is not vulcanized, but a cup sole.
TK:That's really nice. I know that people tend to lump these things together, but that's what "Vans" is all about! With the momentum of the "Vans Showdown," we, too, aim to become the world's number one store!
