So whether you're on a train or an escalator, indoors or outdoors, you can maintain a comfortable environment inside your clothes. It is as if the coat itself breathes.

One membrane is an integral part of GORE-TEX® fabric. That is a thin membrane called the Gore-Tex membrane, which is the key to waterproofness, breathability, and windproofness, and is generally sandwiched between the outer fabric and the lining.

Although 2-layer GORE-TEX® fabric is called 2-layer, it still has three layers: the outer layer, the GORE-TEX® membrane, and the lining. However, only the outer fabric and the GORE-TEX® membrane are attached together, hence the term "2-layer. The functions of breathability (releasing sweat and other moisture vapor from the inside), waterproofing (preventing water from entering from the outside), and windproofing remain the same, but the softness of the fabric is a feature of the 2-layer fabric.

The 3-layer GORE-TEX® fabric is called 3-layer because all three layers - outer fabric, GORE-TEX® membrane, and lining - are attached to each other. The waterproof, breathable, and windproof functions remain the same, and one of the features of 3-layer fabrics is their durability.
