He has bought vintage clothing from "Avilex," and will talk about his own sense of fashion, the store, and his thoughts on the youth of today's world.

I don't want to wear the kind of fashion that says, "If you wear this and this, it's the right thing to wear.

Ms. Okutomi, your sense of fashion is strongly influenced by the music you listened to in elementary and junior high school and the magazines of the time.

Okutomi: . For some reason, I spent my time overreacting to information about music and fashion. . This is still the case today, and I continue to age as I am. Each time I encounter new music or fashion, I accumulate more and more of it, and it seems to have become more sophisticated over time. Rather than being influenced by a particular genre, I feel that I am influenced by many things.

Therefore, I try not to have a clear idea of what I want to do in terms of fashion, such as narrowing down a theme for each season. For example, I don't say, "This summer I will only listen to hip-hop." I listen to a variety of music, just as I eat a variety of foods. Likewise, I am interested in various styles of fashion, and I enjoy it every day while flexibly incorporating them into my daily life. Therefore, the items I buy last year will be different from this year, and I try to keep in mind the mood I am in at the time.

What is your current mood when you listen to music or enjoy fashion?

Okutomi: For the past few years, I have been interested in what is called "hyperpop" music. It is a very hybrid type of electronic music that incorporates hip-hop beats and guitar power chords in its songs. While it is popular in the major music industry, such as in the U.S., it is deep enough to be played in small underground venues.

. It encompasses a lot of elements, doesn't it?

Okutomi: Yes, it is. . So it is not easy to express that in fashion. It's not like, "If you wear this, it's Hyperpop. This is just my personal preference, but I don't want to wear fashions that say, "If you wear this and this, it's the right thing to wear," and I always keep that in mind. In that sense, Hyperpop can be imagined in any number of ways, and I like the way it sounds depending on the timing.

. I dared to make the color combination interesting. Khaki or beige pants would have been easy to pull off, but by adding purple, I enhanced the presence of the orange color by combining colors that are close to the orange's vividness. I added a hat with a folkloric tension to the mix, creating a style whose genre I am not quite sure of (laughs)."

The vest, with its eye-catching colorful orange, is made of ripstop nylon. With pockets of various sizes, it has a high storage capacity and can be used as an outer layer in the warm season and as an inner layer in the cold season.18,480 yen

As you mentioned earlier, the products in "BOY" are genre-less, and I get the impression that they are made up of a variety of elements.

Okutomi: As you say, we try not to lump all genres and eras together, so while we have items from the 1940s, we also have vintage clothing from the 2010s, as well as items from current domestic brands and works by artists. . We are free to do whatever we want.
