What is EQT? What is the Consortium? Eiyuki Kunii and Hirofumi Kojima Kojima talk about it.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of adidas' EQT, the global project "Consortium" will introduce special models arranged by "MITASUSEEKERS" and "ATMOS" respectively. So, what is EQT in the first place? What is the Consortium? We asked both directors who worked on this collaboration about the things they are interested in.

What is the design background of the collaborative model?

Q. Could you tell us about the design concept and attention to detail for each of the models in this collaboration?

Kojima:This is the "EQT PROTOTYPE," the base of the "ATMOS" collaboration model, a redesign and modern revival of a fantastic racing shoe that was developed as a prototype back in the 1990s and then put away.

And here is the collaboration model that "ATMOS" arranged to the same model this time. The design is based on a racing shoe, so the theme of "speed" was chosen. The color fluorescent yellow, reminiscent of the neon lights of Tokyo at night, has been added as an accent color while evoking the sense of speed through the crowds of Tokyo, our hometown.

Kunii:The arrangement is typical of ATMOS. The urban atmosphere, the use of color, and other design elements that ATMOS excels at are well incorporated into the shoes.

For the "Mitasneakers," the EQT CSG 91 was arranged based on the redesigned EQT CSG 91, a former EQT running shoe that combines "guidance," "support," and "cushioning" into one shoe.

When I looked back on the 90s, I was reminded of the real tree patterns and ripstop nylon materials used in the outdoor gear of the time, so I reconstructed the design with those images in mind. I reconstructed the design with these images in mind.

In addition, while scattering the sub-green that is the color that symbolizes EQT everywhere, such as the three stripes and heel on the side, the insole has adopted the original cork material decorated with the logo of each.

Kojima:I am always amazed at Mr. Kunii's mastery of storytelling. The sub-green coloring, cork insoles, and other details that give the shoes a "mita sneakers" feel are also excellent.

Kunii:What I always think about when I do custom orders and collaborations is that it is meaningless unless I give my "character" to the product. When the "character" and "uniqueness" of both parties are combined, something even better is created. I think that's the value of special orders and collaborations.
