In the midst of all this, "Golf 5 for beginners only" was opened at Shinjuku Flags at the end of August, creating an environment where even beginners can easily start playing golf. In this issue, we welcome Yuuki Mihara, a TV personality with seven years of golf experience, as our navigator, and he takes us on a tour of the store with "that guy" who walks on two legs and says he has recently become interested in golf. Q.2 How many golf clubs do I need?

Mihara:That was a problem for me at first, too, but I don't think you necessarily need a full set of clubs when you think of them as the minimum necessary tools.

Golf 5:You are right, Mr. Mihara. First of all, before going out on the course, you need to practice hitting the ball at the driving range, the so-called "hitting range," and there, you will be able to hit the ball.What you will need is a driver and irons. For a round of golf, you will only need a half set that includes 3 irons, a driver, a putter, and a golf bag.But I think it's fine.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a half set! That seems like an easy way to get started.

Mihara:And it doesn't necessarily have to be the latest model at all, a used one is perfectly fine to start with, so I think it's important to start playing golf and enjoy the fun.

At "GOLF5 for beginners only," there are about 50 sets of clubs available for rent, and you can rent a set for the driving range for 2,000 yen, or a full set that can be used around the course for 3,000 yen to 7,000 yen for a week. In addition, the exact same set is sold at the store, so if you like it, you can purchase the same items. Moreover, in that case, they will give you a discount on the rental fee from the price of the item, which means that you can rent it practically for free.
