Two designers look at "Dune: Planet of the Sands".

The novel on which it is based, "Dune: Planet of the Sands," is a fearsome monster. Ridley Scott and Alejandro Jodorowsky, who have now achieved great fame as film directors, fell out before they could fight, and the David Lynch version of "Dune: Planet of the Sands," which was finally made, became a black history even by his own admission. The film version of "Dune" has finally come to fruition, a long-cherished dream of the film industry, and indeed of mankind. The director is Denis Villeneuve, who directed "The Message" and "Blade Runner 2049. We wanted to get a glimpse of the appeal of this magnificent film, which brings together the talents of today's designers, artists, costume designers, actors, and others. "eyes" to watch the film.

I can't wait to see the rest of the world.

When we spoke with you, it was clear that Villeneuve has a love and flair for sci-fi film design.

Many mechanical designers, myself included, are directors. Our job as designers is to embody the world visually, without using words. When that happens, we want to create a worldview and create the entire world. I felt the same vibes in this work.

The costumes were also very beautiful.

The costumes were great. Atreides and Fremen were great, and you changed the costumes and stage for each stage.

For example, in Caladan, the home of the Atreides, they wore formal wear for relaxation and not for battle because it was a safe territory, but on the sand planet "DUNE," they wore combat uniforms for desert warfare because they did not know what might happen. The colors were also distinctly different for each duke and army. I am also curious about the costumes of the characters who will probably first appear in the sequel.

What are you looking forward to in the sequel?

As a reader of the original, I know that the story of the sequel should begin with the awakening of the protagonist Paul and a very simple revenge turn. However, I think the director will probably make some changes to the story. However, I believe that the director will not neglect the original story, but will make a good arrangement in order to bring out the charm of the original story. That is exactly the kind of film adaptation of the original that we want. I am also looking forward to seeing how the Emperor and the Space Guild will be portrayed. Oh, and the Baron's nephew, Fayed Lausa, who has yet to make an appearance. As I said in my comment, I would hate it if he was a skinhead.

No, not only has the film not been released, but the production itself has not been decided yet. It seems that the box-office performance of this film will also have an impact.

Well, I thought I was taking two shots. Oh, no, I'm so disappointed. It would be a real shame, or rather, a great shock, if this is the end. Are you sure you haven't made a sequel yet? Seriously? I'll advertise it as much as I can (laughs). I hope many people will see it.
