Born in Miyazaki Prefecture and raised in Kagoshima Prefecture. Studied design and illustration at Kuwasawa Design School, and is currently a popular illustrator active in various media, including media and advertising. He lives with his wife and their former shelter dog, Abby.

How long have you had Abby in your home?
It's been about a year and a half. We took him in from a volunteer animal shelter, but we don't know exactly where or how he was originally raised. She's not used to people and gets scared, so people say she was probably a wild dog. There are several dogs in Ibaraki that look exactly like Abby.
It would be interesting to trace the roots of such a dog. Did you always have a dog?
I had a dog at my parents' house that was born to a so-called breeder. Even if you take in a shelter dog, there may be restrictions such as age limits, no living alone, etc., or a trial period to see if they are compatible.
Why did you decide to adopt a shelter dog?
The more I researched issues such as the killing of shelter dogs and cats, inspired by friends who had shelter cats around them, the more I felt compelled to adopt a shelter dog.
Your paintings also have a lot of animals, don't they?
I like animals a lot, especially dogs. My wife is allergic to cats, so I knew I had to go with dogs.
I understand that this type of mobile strap has been used for a long time.
At first my wife started using it and I imitated her because it seemed convenient. I often lose my phone. So I started using it because if I put it on, I wouldn't lose it. I find it convenient to wear the strap so I can look at my phone right away if something happens, and I don't lose it.
Why did you choose orange from among all the others?
At first I was going to go with khaki, but then I decided on a brighter color. Since most of the clothes I usually wear are subdued in color, I thought it would be nice to add some color as an accent.
What kind of things do you usually bring when you walk your dog?
It's just water and a toilet bag. If it's something light, you can hang it on the leather hook. The Yosemite Mobile Strap feels like the rope is packed, so it still feels more secure than other straps. It is durable and will last for a long time.
I understand that you often work from home because of your job.
Yes, we do. I travel by car most of the time. When I go out to a convenience store, I use my electronic money, so I often use only the strap and my phone. When I am in the car, I can attach my keys to the leather hook, and I think I will be using it a lot in the future.

About 90% of my illustrations are animals, so it's been a while since I've drawn people. I color them, as I always do, but I use textured brushes and such on my iPad. I had never drawn a convenience store scene or anything like that, so I did an image search to see what a cash register looked like and drew it (laughs).
