Vintage Summit 10: A Vintage Roundtable Discussion by some of the industry's leading eccentrics.

Vintage Summit," a discussion on vintage clothing among vintage fanatics that started in February 2014, has finally reached its 10th edition! We are pleased to welcome back four regular members, Tomohiro Konno, Michihiko Kurihara, Fujihara Yutaka, and Takashi Abe, who will introduce items that are currently attracting their interest. What items are they interested in?

Second lecture
Michihiko Kurihara

I'm more interested in colored coveralls than denim."

1950's DUBBLEWARE CHORE JACKET , 1950's DUBBLEWARE STAND COLLAR CHORE JACKET

Kurihara:The first item is a coverall from " Double Wear.

Fujiwara:The red one wears well.

Kurihara:Yeah, I've been wearing it a lot, so I thought I'd already introduced it at the Vintage Clothing Summit. I wear them so often that I thought I had already introduced them at the Vintage Summit, but after reading back, I realized I was just wearing them here, so I brought them this time (laughs). Both of the items in this issue happen to be from "Double Wear," but I've been interested in colored coveralls lately, regardless of the brand.

Konno:DoubleWear" has a lot of interesting designs, doesn't it? Did you buy this stand collar recently?

Kurihara:Mr. Moriyama (Naoki) of 77 Circa found this at "Asagi" in Osaka and bought it for me.

Abe:Was there a color variation?

Fujiwara:You have seen the red one in the form of a bright green, like an emerald green.

Kurihara:Since the 70's, there have been various colors of workwear for fashion, but this red one seems to have been made for prisoners or something, or as work clothes.

Konno:When did you buy the red one you often wear?

Kurihara:I bought this one from a dealer I know in LA about 3 years ago. It was on a regular rack, but for some reason, other buyers were not going through it. The price wasn't that high, so I bought it thinking, "Why isn't anyone buying it?

Abe:Double Wear is an East Coast brand, right?

Kurihara:Massachusetts, so it's east.

Konno:Whether it's this "Double Wear" or Biltwell, also in Massachusetts, there are double-breasted coveralls with snap buttons and many other interesting designs.

Kurihara:Yes, it is. . it was a little different from the workwear brands in the west. I think it was also regional.

Abe:I like the buttons with these dice on them.

Konno:Chinchilloline type (laughs).

Fujiwara:Small snap buttons like those used on shirts would be nice.

Abe:Do you have any other colorful coveralls besides these " Double Wear"?

Kurihara:. and then there's the hickory stand-up collar. . Come to think of it, I just realized that I don't have a single pair of denim coveralls (laughs).
