PROFILE

Designer at "logi" flower shop in AoyamaUda., and the director of theMr. Kishi.. are a loving couple who have been married for 18 years. They are good partners who support each other in both their private and public lives. Their eldest son, now in junior high school, has reached puberty and has slimmed down to become a very handsome man.

How long has "logi" been in existence?

Shore:. It's been about 7 years since I moved here, and before that I had been doing it for about 5 years in a place a little further away, so in total it's been about 12 years.

What are the roles of the two of you in "logi"?

Uda:I am the designer, and Kishi does the management part, negotiates with clients, and does a lot of peripheral things.

Shore:I feel like I'm hanging around Uda (laughs).

(laughs). The flowers at "logi" are all unique, aren't they?

Shore:Thank you very much. Of course I am interested in the flowers themselves, but I am more interested in who makes them and where they are made. It is similar to the way I buy clothes.

Uda:That's the way men buy, isn't it? They like to know how to buy.

Shore:You say it in a very bad way (laughs).

Uda:. I often choose by intuition. . Many times it turns out to be a good producer.

Shore:Also, we can't do our work without flowers, so flowers are the most important thing for us. We want to make sure that good growers can make a good profit.

It's cold in the florist shop, but what kind of clothes do you often wear?

Shore:As for Uda , I wear clothes I like to wear while working. Clothes that I don't want to get dirty. The reason for this is that I learned from someone that if you work neatly, your clothes will not get dirty, and the work will turn out beautifully.

Uda:Yes, that's right. I have a friend who is a hairdresser , and he doesn't wear an apron or anything when he uses colorants. He says that by not wearing an apron, he can work and behave nicely. When I heard that, I thought, "I see," and I dare to wear clothes that I don't like to get dirty.

When you have to choose, how about a coat from "NANAMICA"?

Uda:It's so nice. I thought it would be colder, but it keeps the wind out and keeps me cool.

How about you, Mr. Kishi?

Shore:. I am basically the type of person who uses one thing for a long time. Nanamica's coats are sturdy and good in that respect.

. Actually, this coat can also be repaired.

Shore:You can wear it for the rest of your life (laughs). . and I like that it's so lightweight, easy to maneuver, and easy to move around in. . And even though it is GORE-TEX fabric, I like the cotton-like texture.

Uda:. We sometimes go outdoors to gather materials. The other day we had to express the "Icelandic worldview" and went to a friend's house to gather materials, and it would be good for that kind of work.

Shore:Yes, I do. Also, I often go to work for magazines and advertisements. I want to be able to move around easily, but I also want to be dressed nicely for the clients. I like to look good for those occasions as well.

. Actually, I received a bouquet of flowers from "logi" once before, and they were already very nice. For example, if I want to give someone a bouquet of flowers, do I just tell you the characteristics of the person I want to give them to?

Uda:Yes, that's right. In fact, that's the only way I make it.

Shore:I guess I often ask them what they wear. . or the music they listen to. Sometimes I listen too deeply and end up asking about my father's work.

Uda:From that kind of talk, I can develop an image and create something that better suits the recipient's taste. But you always dig too deep (laughs).
