The past and future of Dairiku and BAYCREW'S.
CLOSE RELATIONSHIP DAIRIKU x BAYCREW'S DEPO

The past and future of Dairiku and BAYCREW'S.

BAYCREW'S STORE, which opened on March 24 at Nagoya PARCO, is a mega-store with a floor space of more than 1,000 tsubo (approximately 1,000 square meters) from the B1F to the 3rd floor, of which "BAYCREW'S DEPO" on the 3rd floor is the most noteworthy. Among the highly sensitive brands, from domestic to imported, DAIRIKU boasts the largest sales floor space on the third floor. The two buyers of BAYCREW'S, Seiya Abe, and the designer of DAIRIKU, Dairiku Okamoto, have built a close relationship over the years by producing special-order items and holding pop-up stores. We asked them about their history and the highlights of "BAYCREW'S DEPO".

Dairiku" is a great opportunity to improve the lifestyle of a single person.

I understand that "Baycrew's Depot" will also sell furniture designed by Mr. Tairiku.

Okamoto:. I wanted to give people a chance to increase their love of not only clothes, but also movies, music, furniture, and so on. . So I started out by making furniture, which I had always wanted to do. I set up the theme "Living Alone," with the idea that it would be nice if people living alone could make their lives just a little bit better.

Abe:When I went to Continental's house , the room was really cool. . I was influenced by him, and there were some furniture that I wanted to have. So, I think that by being exposed to the Dairiku brand, I can improve my furniture and lifestyle.

. The theme, "Living Alone," was aimed at people who live alone, wasn't it?

Okamoto:I liked "Home Alone" a lot, so I think it's partly a play on that. Whenever I create a collection, I always have the theme of "kids. I always have a theme of "kids" in my collections: boys who have moved from the countryside to the city, started living on their own, and are trying their best to make it. I think that for these kids, furniture and sundries are not as easily accessible as clothes. So, I would be happy if they become aware of Dairiku and want to buy beautiful furniture for their homes.

What kind of furniture will be in the lineup?

LIVING ALONe "HOME KIDS Picture" RUG ¥15,400

Okamoto:This rug incorporates the logo of the first season that "417 Edifice" handled it.

Abe:This is one of the most indispensable logos for Dairiku.

Okamoto:I made these rugs with the idea that they could be placed anywhere in the house, whether in the entryway or in the bathroom, and that they would add a little excitement to the home. . I think it would be fun to use the rug as a starting point to learn more about furniture. Even if you don't actually buy a rug, I hope this will inspire you to want to buy a piece of furniture when you are older and have more time on your hands.

As with your clothes, is there any influence from the movie in your furniture as well?

RIVERGATE for LIVING ALONe SINGLE SOFA ¥176,000

Okamoto:Yes. For example, the sofa I created with the brand "RIVER GATE" was designed for watching a movie alone. The design was inspired by movie theater seats. We are thinking of adding a plate like a seat number as a serial number.

Abe:I think it's rare to find a one-seat sofa that is so deep and wide. . I think it can be used in a variety of ways, such as putting popcorn on the side or putting your feet up on the seat.

You are a movie buff, so you designed the room.

Abe:Movies are absolutely indispensable when talking about "Dairiku" as well. When I am late, my excuse is usually "I'm sorry, I was watching a movie" (laughs).

Okamoto:Sorry (laughs).

By the way, are there any movies that you like for their interior design or room atmosphere, Mr. Continental?

Okamoto:I like "The Outsiders," "The Goonies," "Gilbert Grape," and that dusty look. It's a bit rustic, but all the furniture and dishes look amazingly stylish, or something.

Dairiku made its runway debut at the recent Tokyo Collection, as well as in this furniture making project.

Okamoto:First of all, I would like to expand and update the range of clothes I can make, but I would also like to show various aspects of the "Dairiku" brand. I don't know if that will be through books, videos, or in any other way. I believe that sometimes what we try out on initial impulse because we know nothing about something can turn out to be a good thing, so with that in mind, I would like to try new things with Mr. Abe and the Bay Cruise Store.

Abe-san, do you have any plans for the future utilizing "BAYCREW'S DEPO"?

Abe:As I said before, I would like to try to offer a lineup of products that can only be purchased here so that many customers will visit Baycrew's Depot, just as we have done with Dairiku.
