What we wore in the Tokyo Marathon.
Enomoto:The other major difference from previous years was that there was no baggage storage service at the start venue. Participants needed to take their own measures to keep warm before the start and to change clothes after the finish.
AQ:Yamamoto-san was running with a sack on his back.
Yamamoto:Yes, I would like to carry it on my back. Although it was in the way of running, I thought that if I could not check my baggage, I would have to run with it on my back.
AQ:I wanted to run as light as possible, so on the morning of the race, I dressed for running and headed from my house to the venue.
Enomoto:Wasn't it cold?
AQ:It was extremely cold. When I was riding the Yamanote Line in this outfit, I was looked at with white eyes by the passengers around me (laughs).
Before the start of the event, Mr. AQZAWA (on the left in the photo) came by train dressed like this.
Enomoto:In early March, shorts and sleeveless are indeed conspicuous (laughs). How were the shoes? I and Yamamoto wore Asics "Nova Blast" shoes, while AQ-san wore "Meta Speed" shoes with a carbon plate in the midsole.
AQ:Yes, I have. There are two types of "MetaSpeed," the stride type "Sky" and the pitch type "Edge," and I wore the "Sky" version. I wore the "Sky" type, which matched my running style well, and I was able to increase my speed comfortably.

Yamamoto:Metaspeed" has a great reputation, doesn't it? However, I have to admit that my running ability does not allow me to take full advantage of its performance. The strong propulsive force produced by the carbon plate is a match for me, as I don't intend to aim for a fast time. The cushioned and bouncy "Nova Blast" was just right for me.
Enomoto:Likewise. The "Nova Blast" is one of my favorite shoes for everyday jogging. They comfortably supported me for the 42.195 kilometers of this year's Tokyo Marathon.
