Opened in 1986 as the first "Freaks Store," it underwent a major renovation in 2020 with the arrival of the Wakayama-based outdoor store Orange, and will undergo another renewal in April 2022. Outside, the green carpet and wood deck, along with eye-catching plantings, are a perfect match with the sun.

And a new coworking space has been set up on the 2nd floor. The name of the space is "&FREAK. The space consists of free-address tables, large and small private rooms, ateliers, and meeting rooms, and is furnished in a way that makes working fun. There is also an event space that anyone can use, and "Cafe FUJINUMA" that serves coffee and curry.
The project took a long time, working hand in hand with the government, and was directed by Kyooru Shibata, who has been involved in the interior design of the Freaks Store for many years, from concept-making to design. We will now take a closer look behind the scenes of this facility through an interview with Mr. Shibata. What kind of future vision does he envision for this facility, which is both cutting-edge and backwards from the times?
