Barbershops of the past have been sublimated into modern or Americanized forms and are gaining popularity these days. Among them, new barbershops that are not revivals but rather new barbershop styles unique to Japan are popping up one after another. The first of these is "Mr. Brother's Cut Club," which has five stores in Japan with its main store in Harajuku, and just recently expanded to L.A. in the United States.
Overturning the concept of barber = barber, the shop follows the authentic barber style while still being a hairdresser. The style, which is a muddled mixture of tattoos, hip-hop, and various other culture and rugged, masculine elements, has been well received and has grown into a popular store that has attracted attention from around the world despite being established in 2015.
In addition to the store's uniqueness, an essential part of the store's appeal is its team of stylists, who are rich in individuality. Some staff members are devoted to skate culture, while others are surfers, bikers, campers, musicians, and so on.
Many of these staff members are also patrons of . Many people may associate "Mr. Brothers Cut Club" with faded styles and classic hairstyles with pomades. While there is no doubt that this is true, the fact that each member of the club has a strong individuality is also a major feature of the club.
