Mr. Ochiai told us the background behind the creation of this collaborative model. We asked him to actually experience "MY G-SHOCK" with the model he designed.
I did this kind of custom service once before. But if I have any doubts, I stop immediately. I can't make a good product (laughs).
Mr. Ochiai tried out various combinations as he talked about this. Instead of starting with the dial, then the belt, then the belt loop, and so on, he kept his hands busy as if enjoying a puzzle game, speedily combining the various parts and exploring the various possibilities.
It's cool to use a single color, but it's a custom service, and we want to create cool items by combining various colors.
Only a few minutes after the start of the customization process. Here is Mr. Ochiai's "MY G-SHOCK," which was created with a single word: "Here you go. It was a bit of a shock to see how quickly they were put together, but it was the result of Ochiai's unique combination of playfulness and coolness.
Lime yellow is my favorite color because it matches my current mood. But I thought it would be a bit easy to match it with white. I also wanted to make the color darker, so I chose a smoke blue belt. That's about as simple as it gets.
The belt loop is lime yellow to match the dial. What is the reason for this?
I thought, "Smoke blue would be boring, and that's why I decided on lime yellow, thinking that bringing in red would make it a little too strong. I kind of balanced it out like that, but when I turn on the lights, the monster comes to life and becomes a junk. I think it's fascinating that it's filled with the culture I like, and I like it myself (laughs). Isn't it cute?
When we asked them what they thought of the "MY G-SHOCK" experience, they responded as follows.
It was simply fun. I think the characteristics of G-SHOCK's original items and this kind of customization service go very well together. I think it's interesting to explore the possibilities. I would like to see how people on the street customize the items I design through this service.
Mr. Ochiai says he usually rides his motorcycle to get around. He says that it seems to match his own lifestyle.
I can't look at my phone when I'm on the bike. That's why my watch is very useful now. It is an important item in my lifestyle. Especially a tough watch like G-SHOCK fits my lifestyle even better. Also, I like the color blue, and my motorcycle is blue, so I'm happy that this watch matches it.
This collaborative model with "FACETASM" is not only equipped with functions as a watch, but can also be worn as an accent on the wrist as if it were an accessory. Finally, we asked Mr. Ochiai for his advice for those who are going to create their own personalized items with "MY G-SHOCK.
I recommend that you customize it with a color that comes to mind when you wake up in the morning. I think the morning reflects the mood of the day. It is also in the morning that we decide what to wear. It makes the day better and, by extension, enriches the color of your life. I think it is wonderful to start the morning with such choices. The weather, the daily news, and other such factors determine the mood of each day, and I think it would be interesting to create something that reflects that. There is no need to make it fashionable at all. You can combine them however you like.
