Minakami offers a variety of outdoor activities, but we decided to try SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) first. I joined a SUP tour of Lake Akaya organized by R-LABO, a local guide team.
Lake Akaya is a dammed lake not far from Sarugakyo Onsenkyo in Minakami Town. There is almost no current and the water level is stable, so you can enjoy SUP with peace of mind. There are points where the canyon rises up on both sides, providing a sense of adventure.

By the way, all three of them are experienced SUPers. They enjoy cruising along the canyon while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
