Salomon gear that worked in Yakushima!

For the climb from Shiratani-unsui Gorge to Taikoiwa, he wore the Gore-Tex model of Salomon's high-performance hiking shoes, the "Outpulse" series. Thanks to the newly developed foam midsole with excellent cushioning and resilience, the shoes supported a stable gait without blurring when landing. The high grip of the outsole also prevented slipping even on wet, rocky terrain.
Yakushima is one of the world's wettest areas, so it is essential to be prepared for rain. We were blessed with clear skies on this climb, but the excellent waterproof and breathable properties of GORE-TEX came into play during wading and muddy sections of the trail. I was able to continue walking comfortably without worrying about water getting inside the shoes.
The shoes are available in mid-cut and low-cut, each with or without GORE-TEX. You can choose according to your preference and weather conditions.
