-What is the key to wearing a single jacket?
The blazer is an item that embodies the "American sense" that I love. It also has the image of a sports jacket, so I matched it with sporty items such as the "New Balance" footwear and "Dress" turtlenecks to match the tension of the blazer. In terms of items, everything is put together with an authentic feel.
-What are Mr. Nishino's criteria for selecting a single jacket?
The most important thing is the size. A single jacket tends to have a business-like appearance, and it is difficult to make it look sophisticated. That is why I think it is important to wear a turtleneck like the one worn here, or to layer inside the jacket to make it look cohesive. Sizing is important when considering layering. The blazer I chose from Brooks Brothers has a boxy silhouette. The blazer I chose this time has a boxy silhouette and the waist is not shaped, so I think it is relatively easy to layer. I generally choose boxy silhouettes for single jackets. I also choose jackets that have shoulder pads and a solid interlining, not those with an unconstructed design.
-What is your personal rule when wearing a single jacket?
I am not accustomed to wearing ancon-style jackets, so I choose so-called tailored jackets. That's why I pay attention to the overall balance. In this case, the navy blue blazer from Brooks Brothers is quite authentic, so I chose a pair of mules from New Balance or a shirt wrapped around the waist to give it a sporty feel. The theme of this collection is to enjoy the jacket as a fashion item.
When Nishino wears an American-style blazer with a vintage denim shirt wrapped around his waist or a brightly colored cap from 47×NEAT, he incorporates some sporty elements into his jackets. The gap in taste is also appealing.
For footwear, he chose a pair of New Balance 2002 mules, of which he recently bought two pairs. This is another key to injecting a sporty element to the authentic navy blue blazer in order to create a sense of mix and match.
