He is currently performing in the play "My Month" at the New National Theatre, Tokyo, which runs until Sunday, November 20. His recent hobbies include sewing and running. Mr. Okada has appeared in many fashion magazines and has the image of a "fashion person.

Okada: That is definitely true. I tend to wear vintage clothes now, and since I am getting older, I tend to wear more mature brands. I often wear brands that my juniors are working on.

You also launched your own children's clothing brand, "KOU.

Okada: I am taking it really slow and working at my own pace. Basically, I'm working as an actor and doing that when I have time.

Have you been to Gap so far?

Okada: I've been a big fan of Gap since I had my child. As I get older, I prefer simple, good quality items, and Gap has many useful items in that respect. I also see Gap at thrift stores, and I think they have been making good products for a long time.

How do you feel about the actual fit?

Okada: The pants are so good that I really want to buy the same model in black (laughs). Personally, I prefer tapered pants to straight ones, and I really like the silhouette of Gap's pants. They look great rolled up to show off your shoes, or worn over a pair of engineer boots.

Your son's coordination is also adorable.

Okada:Children have the privilege of wearing flashy colors and patterns, so if I see something like that in a store, I don't hesitate to choose it. I can't do it myself, so I just leave it to the kids to play with (laughs).

What is your child-rearing policy, if any?

Okada:It's like "wait-and-see" parenting. When I have time to spare, I wait for them to come to me, no matter how much they beg, nag, or whine. Until I'm satisfied.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Okada are actors by profession. Will your children follow the same path in the future?

Okada:He is very shy. I don't know. But if he doesn't have any sense, I will stop him immediately (laughs). (Laughs.) We know this best because we have been fighting in this area for a long time, and I think it is an absolutely important part.

Yoshinori Okada: Coat ¥12,900 (L), fleece logo hoodie ¥5,990 (L), relax tapered denim ¥6,990 (32×30) / Son: fleece logo hoodie ¥3,990 (100), sweater leggings ¥2,990 (90)

PROFILE

Born in Colombia. Moved to Kamakura 4 years ago with her family from Tokyo. Currently, she lives in Kamakura and commutes to Tokyo. She is the mother of two children: a son, 5, and a daughter, 3.
Instagram:@linaohashi

The bright colors in the styling of Ms. Ohashi and her two children are very typical of the Gap.

Ohashi:Thank you very much. When I go to Gap, I always want to buy something colorful. I like Gap because they have a color selection that you don't find in Japanese or European brands. I also like Gap because my children like to wear colorful clothes.

Have you always been a fan of the Gap?

Ohashi:I like it and still go there quite often. It's for me, but there is also a space for kids to draw, so it's easy for me to shop there.

I would also like to ask about styling points.

Ohashi:First, I picked out the kids' stuff, then I picked out my own stuff to match. I thought it might be too flashy, but when I tried it on, it wasn't at all. It's really cute.

Do you always choose the outfits for your two children?

Ohashi:My husband chooses my son and I choose my daughter. So my husband did not participate this time either, but I consulted with him. Men are better at coordinating boys' outfits than boys' outfits.

Mr. Ohashi, I heard that you like Gap denim.

Ohashi:I have several pairs, and this summer I bought some flared denim as well. I like the recent Gap collection, which has a classic feel to it, and it fits my current mood.

By the way, was it to raise children that you moved to Kamakura four years ago?

Ohashi:My husband and I have both lived in Tokyo for a long time, but when we came to Kamakura for a trial visit, we fell in love with it, and that's when we moved here. So it wasn't about raising children at all.

So, in terms of child-rearing, is there anything that you liked about Kamakura?

Ohashi:I guess it is being close to nature. Thanks to this, we both love insects, animals, and fish. But I also want to show them the good aspects of Tokyo. So whether in Kamakura or Tokyo, I want them to encounter a variety of values and landscapes.

Rina Ohashi: down jacket ¥19,900 (XS), hoodie ¥6,990 (M), 90s loose denim ¥6,990 (25) / Roy-kun: puffer jacket ¥7,990 (100), smiley logo hoodie ¥5,990 (100), 90sLOOSE denim ¥5,990 ( (100) / Kay: Smiley T-shirt ¥2,990 (90), Fleece jacket ¥7,990 (95), Carpenter denim ¥5,990 (95)

What is the image of "Gap" from your point of view?

Westfield:Gap" is a mass-produced brand that is liked by both vintage clothing lovers and those who like clothes. And it is reasonably priced. There are other casual fashion brands in the world, but Gap is the only one I can think of that has this position. Also, those of us in the fashion industry tend to dislike mass-produced items. However, Gap's products are accepted in a way that says, "That's also a good thing about America.

I wonder if that is because of the brand's accumulated experience.

Westfield:And the fact that they are lined up in secondhand clothing stores is proof that they are highly fashionable and recognized.

How did you feel when you actually picked out the clothes at the store?

Westfield:For me, Gap is more like a workwear store. When I enjoy fashion, I go there to look for things that I want. For example, if I want to buy a striped T-shirt, I go to Gap, and the same goes for the turtleneck I'm wearing right now.

From your point of view, what do you think of "Gap" pants?

Westfield:The waist is partially elastic, which makes them easy to wear. Also, the wide crotch and the degree of tapering are very modern. They are also much cheaper than "NEAT" (laughs).

When you coordinate, it gives a nice American uncle look. What are some of your key points?

Westfield:My outfit today is very revealing. So it's hard to find the right point, and this is what I look like when I wear it (laughs). (laughs) But I have a certain image of what I think is cool, and in order to achieve that image, I need turtlenecks, flannel shirts, chinos, and baseball caps, and I expressed that in my own color scheme. The most difficult thing is the size. If I make a mistake, it's really bad (laughs).

Speaking of Mr. Nishino, I think he is particular about turtlenecks.

Westfield:The neck is the most important aspect of wearing a turtleneck. I pay a lot of attention to how tight the neck is. In that respect, Gap's turtles are quite good. It doesn't seem to sag, and it feels tucked in even after washing.

How do you raise your three sons?

Westfield:In our generation, we were always told that whatever we did was wrong or no good, so as much as possible, we never say "no." Instead, we take full responsibility. Instead, I make them take responsibility for everything they do. This has been the case since I was deciding on elementary school, and when you make your own decision, you have no choice but to do it. I think I am very thorough in this regard.

Daishi Nishino: flannel shirt ¥6,990 (L), layering turtleneck ¥5,990 (L), down jacket ¥18,900 (L), relaxed pleated khaki pants ¥6,990 (33×30) / Korekun: logo sweatshirt ¥3,990 (130), down jacket ¥14,900 (130), corduroy pants ¥4,990 (130) / Hi-kun: graphic sweater ¥5,990 (100), down jacket ¥14,900 (100) 14,900 (130), corduroy pants ¥4,990 (130) / Scarlet: graphic sweater ¥5,990 (100), down jacket ¥14,900 (100), corduroy pants ¥4,990 (100) / E-kun: body suit ¥1,690 (80), down jacket 9,990 (80) yen, corduroy pants ¥3,990 (80)

SAMPLE 4. nico, KEI, uki, Nosuke

PROFILE

nico is the creative director of three OOO YY beauty salons in Daikanyama, and her husband KEI is the owner of those salons. nico is a beautician, hair/make-up artist, and vocalist, and KEI is a beautician, hair/make-up artist, DJ, bassist, and collage artist. Both of them have received many love calls from overseas. They have two children, 8-year-old Uki and 4-year-old Nosuke.
Instagram:@nicovovivav,. @keioooyyvovivavtb

What is your impression of the Gap?

KEI:I used to work in the Shibuya and Omotesando area, so I used to go to the Shibuya store, which opened in 1996, to look at clothes. I was impressed by the casual, American atmosphere that blended in with the city, especially the denim. I thought it was a brand that pulled in various cultures and showed originality even back then.

NICO:As I've grown older, I've started to wear it more often. When I want to look healthy and sexy, I often turn to "Gap. This summer, I wore a lot of T-shirts, denim, and waterproof tops and pants in different colors. My staff often wears Gap clothes, and I've come to be able to guess that they are from Gap by the shape and details, even if they are not logo items (laugh).

You must be quite a fan (laughs).

NICO:As for the T-shirts, I personally think the mold is distinctive. Compared to other competing brands, the sleeves at the shoulders are taut and clean, or maybe they are when worn on my body type. This summer I found one that fits me perfectly, not too oversized or too small.

I heard that your styling this time was based on checkered patterns and white colors. What are the key points of coordination?

NICO:I like mixed culture and grunge-like fashion, so I tried to combine corduroy flared pants and men's quilted down jackets instead of matching them with ethnic-inspired checkered shirts.

KEI:Like nico, when I saw the checkered pattern, I was reminded of the Maasai tribe and Scottish kilts. I interpret it as a pattern that originated from ethnic groups, was incorporated into the fashion of the punk and new wave scenes, and then connected to the coordination of the alternative music scene of the 90s, which made it even more appealing. I have been influenced by a vast amount of good influences (laughs). This shirt from Gap is a great example of taking that background and putting it into a casual, street style.

Your hair looks great, nico.

NICO:I tried to make my hair black-ish. I like the beauty of black and its kid-like look. I like that Gap's clothes don't fight with such elements, don't they?

Finally, is there anything you pay attention to when raising your children?

KEI:We encourage them to do what they are interested in. Both of them like to make things and are very focused, so I let them grow in that area. We also try to have fun together as much as possible. On sunny days off, we go to the park, and on rainy days, we go to an indoor ball pool or to a sports center. We also arrange tag games in an interesting way. We do this in the park after dark, and it gets very exciting (laughs).

NICO:Greetings are also important within the family. I feel that children grow up watching their parents, so if parents are frank in their communication, starting with greetings, it will naturally be passed on to their children.

Then, I try to make sure that the children can figure out what they use by themselves by putting it away in a place that is easy to get in and out of. This also helps them to be better organized. I also try to treat them as individuals and not as children.

nico: quilted jacket ¥10,900 (L), cable cardigan ¥8,990 (XXS), flannel shirt ¥6,990 (XS), corduroy flares ¥7,990 (23) / KEI: sherpa denim jacket ¥12,900 (L), flannel shirt ¥6, 990 (M), long-sleeved T-shirt ¥3,990 (XL) / uki: logo sweatshirt ¥3,990 (XL) 990 (M), Carpenter pants ¥8,990 (32×30), Long-sleeved T-shirt ¥3,990 (XL) / uki: Logo sweatshirt ¥3,990 (S), Shirt dress ¥4,990 (XS), Leggings ¥2,490 (S) / Nosuke: Check shirt ¥3,990 (100) Cable sweater ¥6,990 (100) / Jogger pants ¥2,490 (96)

SAMPLE 5. MONJOE, Shiorina, Shun, Tsumugi

PROFILE

The family consists of Wataru, who is the vocalist and music producer for the four-piece band "DATS" under the name "MONJOE," and Shiorina, who works as an advertising planner. They have two children, Jun (4 years old) and Tsumugi (1 year and 8 months old). Wataru recently takes time out of his busy schedule to refresh himself by playing tennis and golf.
Instagram:@monjoe.wataru

What kind of image do you have of "The Gap"?

Shiorina:I buy a lot of children's clothes and I am quite indebted to them. All the clothes are colorful, and even the basics like denim are cute and really useful.

MONJOE:My wife was in charge of children's clothing, and I had no idea about it....

How do you feel when you actually try it on?

MONJOE:The silhouette looked more American, but it is very current. There is a wide range of sizes available, so there are a lot of sizes that I like.

I would also like to ask about the styling points. monjoe, the parka is just as I imagined.

MONJOE:For some reason, when a stylist selects clothes for a photo shoot, I tend to wear a parka (laughs). (Laughs.) Maybe that's the image I have, but actually I don't usually wear hoodies that much. However, the fabric of Gap's hoodies is soft and very easy to wear. They are not stiff, so I think they will be easy to layer for the coming season.

How about you, Shiorina?

Shiorina:I had been wearing jeans and a hoodie a lot when I was younger, and I avoided the jeans and hoodie style because I thought it looked a little childish and lived-in, but I thought it would be surprising if I added boots on my feet and some accessories. It was like casual again (laughs).

Finally, what is your child-rearing policy, if any?

Shiorina:You do care about the sense of gender, don't you?

MONJOE:That's right. For example, there are things like pink because you are a girl, or a red school bag. I don't want to impose values that are considered common sense, so I try to be careful. In the end, it is up to the child to decide, but I want to keep things flat until the child's ego has grown.

Shiorina:My older daughter went to kindergarten and everyone around her is wearing dresses, so I thought, "I want to wear one too! I want to respect that, but at the same time, I don't want her to be bound by it. I want to keep a good balance.

MONJOE: Logo sweatshirt ¥7,990 (L), Sherpa denim jacket ¥12,900 (L), relaxed pleated khaki pants ¥6,990 (31×30) / Shiorina: Logo hoodie ¥7,990 (L), short down jacket ¥17,900 (S), 90s loose denim ¥6,990 (27) / Shun-chan: Sherpa logo crew neck ¥4,990 (100), corduroy skirtall ¥5,990 (110) / Tsumugi: garter sweater ¥5,990 (90), leggings ¥1,690 (90), corduroy skirtall 5,990 (90)
