Vintage Summit 11: A Vintage Summit of the industry's leading eccentrics discussing vintage clothing.

After a year's absence, Vintage Summit, a discussion of vintage clothing among vintage enthusiasts, is back after a long absence. Tomohiro Konno, Michihiko Kurihara, Fujihara Yutaka, and Takashi Abe, four regular members who boast the best personal collections and overwhelming knowledge in the scene, will bring in items and categories that they are interested in recently, or topics they want to share with the members, and will dig deep into them while digressing as usual. They will dig deep into the topic with their usual digressions.

It was a bit of a surprise double name."

'80s THE NORTH FACE PUFF VEST

Abe:The tag under "The North Face" is that "Apple," right?

Konno:It is not so old. I can guess from the tag that it was made around the end of the 1980s, and it is not that old, but I decided to buy it because of its yellow color, which is unique to "The North Face," and the "Apple" tag casually sewn on it. I don't know how it was made, though.

Kurihara:Rather than being sold to the general public, it's more likely that they were worn as promotional uniforms by the staff at the dealerships or something like that.

Konno:Maybe so.

Kurihara:The North Face and Apple were both founded in the same state of California (the founders of both companies went through the hippie culture in real time and later spoke about its influence in many media outlets), so it is not too much of a stretch to say that they were sympathetic to each other, but the relationship may not have been that distant. It may not be too far-fetched to say that they had sympathies for each other.

Abe:I see.

Fujiwara:Is Konno-san wearing this?

Konno:It has a big silhouette that still retains a little of the '80s wildness, so I wear it over a pair of riders. However, I had mistakenly thought it was down until everyone saw it earlier, so I can't hide my shock at finding out that it's just cotton (laughs).

All:(Laughter).

Konno:However, as Yutaka is wearing today, this unique yellow color is a symbolic coloring of the brand, but at the same time, it is a bit of a rare color when it comes to vintage.

Fujiwara:I understand. The color is so eye-catching that I have a pair of these ripstop shell down vests in different sizes.

Kurihara:Plus, with its modern size and the added value of "Apple," I think some stores will pay quite a bit for it.

Fujiwara:I think it's a bit odd. Speaking of North down vests, I was in a store the other day and found an orange body with no buttons stamped on it, which I think is one of the first ones, but it is also a bit different.

Konno:Really?

Fujiwara:It was the first time I personally saw a type with a double front opening on the inside, so I thought I would buy it even if it was a little expensive if the size was right, but it was still a little small.

Abe:I see the same specifications in the down vests of [Holubar] (an outdoor apparel brand established in Colorado in 1947). Well, Konno's is not "down" (laughs).

All:(Laughter).
