Shopping Addict May. 2017 - Editor's Favorite

A major financial company is reducing its workforce by introducing AI. assuming that a future in which many jobs will inevitably be taken over by AI, will "addicts" eventually be written by AI? No, no, no way . We will continue to be human-powered as ever. Please take a look.

Summer feeling earlier.

Ryo Komuta

The weather in the Kanto region in May is probably the most pleasant of the year, with low humidity and clear skies. It seems that Tsuyoshi Takagi, the creator of "Traveling Garasu," is also in Japan during this time of year , every year.

BLAMINKBlumink T-shirts

. to put it simply, superb.

It may seem that "I used to be very nervous about going into a clothing store..." is just a memory of a fashion lover's uncle, but it is not true. There are still some great stores with a good sense of tension. The Braminck store in Aoyama is definitely one of them. The space, filled to the brim with the worldview of director and designer Ajiko Yoshitake, who worked at DeRoer and then launched Blaminck, exudes a pleasant tension that makes you stand up straight and makes you realize once again how precious and beautiful the act of shopping really is. The collection is basically women's, but there are also several men's models available. The T-shirt introduced here is a simple piece of 1001 TP10T cotton, but the elegance that rises from it is extraordinary. The fabric, which has a humble but clean luster, has an exquisite feel to it. Please try it on alone, not as an inner layer. You will realize the difference in quality.

MADISONBLUEMadison Blue shirt

Tough and supple. Such a shirt .

I have known stylist Yuta Kaji for a long time. Although very presumptuous, I believe that we have similar tastes in clothes that I like, and when we met the other day, I heard him say, "Madison (Blue) men's clothes are good in a futuristic way," and I was duly influenced. Although I knew the brand existed, I thought it would be mainly women's wear, so it wasn't really my thing, but when I looked at it, I found a large selection of men's sizes as well. One of the charms of "Madison Blue" is the gap, in a good sense, created by incorporating rugged fabrics used for men's wear into women's items, and even from a man's perspective, the clothes were extremely attractive. The slightly thicker back satin fabric seems to develop its own charm the more it is worn. Casually rolling up the sleeves, you can see the brand's iconic "B" mark. This shirt is a must-have for those who want to roll up their sleeves.

SINGH AND SONThin & Sun slip-on

Just the right amount of relaxation.

Although the brand name was completely unfamiliar to me, I knew I had seen these slip-ons somewhere before, right from the first time I saw them. And where I had seen them, I found that "Non-Native" had made a special order for the 15SS. They are so well integrated into the world of "non-native" that you would think they were inline items, and once again, we are amazed at the keen eye of designer Takayuki Fujii. The "Singh and Son" shoes by Gagan Singh, a New York designer with Indian origins, are neither sneakers nor loafers, but are characterized by their exquisite fit. They can be worn with or without heels. There are quite a few color variations, but these three models are all special orders from "BEAMS. They have crepe soles and are decorated with surface leather on the heel. Among them, the upper right ver is black to the sole.Exclusive to the online store of BEAMS. will be. The answer to why Senapan, is at the store.

Wism and Itty Bitty are personal friends of mine. I have always paid attention to the special-order items that both of these companies produce, and I was really impressed with the pants that they produced this time. These pants, which Mr. Horie, the director of "Wism", calls "Senapants". The silhouette, the texture of the fabric, and the slightly rough atmosphere when worn are all outstanding. . The blue color in the photo is definitely cooler when worn than in the product photo.this way (direction close to the speaker or towards the speaker)Please visit theHOUYHNHNM's NewsAs I wrote in my previous article, " Ittibitti's delicate sense of style and Wism's contemporary sensibility for the present are perfectly combined in this masterpiece. FRANK&MORRISFrank & Morris Active Shorts

. to enjoy running as a style.

Just as few people are interested in fashion in general, most runners are lame. No, if the influence of fast fashion has raised the fashionable level to the bottom, then this trend in the running scene appears even more pronounced. One such example is Frank & Morris, an online store launched by two designers in May of this year. The online store, which was launched in May of this year, offers a lineup of T-shirts featuring graphics on original cotton polyester bodies. . All of them are highly fashionable and could not be drawn by a conventional sports brand. However, what caught my personal attention were the shorts. The light colors, which can be used in everyday life, the discreet yet shiny reflector logo, the back pocket that can hold a smartphone, and the stretch material on the crotch area all convey the sense of the creator and his concern for the running experience, even more than the graphics. I really hope that more people will enjoy running as a style and culture through these products.

Ultimate DirectionUltimate Directions Fast Pack

Is it capacity, color, or versatility?

. For some reason, I have always liked large bags. I can throw everything into it, and I can stuff in any luggage that I am not sure if I should carry at the moment. The large size alone gives me a sense of security, as if I have unlimited capacity. The FASTPACK series from Ultimate Direction, which has undergone an update, is a good example of this. There are four levels of capacity, from 15L to 25L, 35L, and 45L, each with a different color scheme. Should you choose by capacity as before, or by your favorite color? As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I am a big bag lover. Although I am introducing a 45L bag for the time being, my heart is inclined toward a 35L bag, which is more practical. . No, but the peace of mind that comes with a large bag is hard to ignore. . 15L is also attractive, which I can use for a trail running race or a run home. Hmmm, I can't find the answer. . but I want one of them.

SALOMONSalomon's amphibious shoes.

You can ride the ocean, rivers, mountains, and roads, and you can ride all of them.

Although the fashion season is drawing to a close, the on-season for summer clothes is just around the corner, and the limited season for minimalist summer attire of T-shirts, shorts, and beesans is finally upon us. . However, the inability to run at the drop of a hat in beeswax was a fatal flaw for me. Salomon's amphibious shoes emerged as a new option. The XA Amphibians (top photo), under the S-LAB name, are designed for the swim-run event popular in Europe, the Cross Amphibians (middle photo) are based on running shoes, and the Tech Amphibians 3 (bottom photo) boast outstanding grip and quick-drying performance. The lineup includes three models of amphibious shoes alone. Moreover, two of the three models are designed for running, which is a great point. This summer, I would like to run with these shoes in the ocean, rivers, mountains, and on the road.

TrippersTrippers number pouch

Effective use of spoils of war that have lost their way.

Finisher's certificates, medals, numbers, and tacky T-shirts are surprisingly hard to find a place to put them. I don't use them for anything, and I don't think it's a good idea to display them even though I didn't place very high, and unfortunately, I don't have the space for them. However, I am not so heartless as to casually toss them in the trash. One service that can help you revive such lost treasures is the custom number service offered by Trippers, a trail-running specialty store that just opened in Tachikawa. The store manager, who has a background in apparel, personally steps on a sewing machine and transforms the item into a pouch like the one you see here. Incidentally, the lineup includes two types: a pen case and a wallet. This is a fascinating service that allows you to put your racing memories to good use. . For now, I think I will visit the store with the number of the "Trenic World Sainokuni," for which I served as a pacer the other day.

My Fuji Rock Style.

Jun Nakada

Last year, I visited Fuji Rock for the first time in my life. I was so moved by the music of Letchley that I burst into tears, and by the crunchy food I ate at the Gapao Restaurant, which I have conquered and come to love. It's almost that time of year again. I will be even more prepared than last year.

PatagoniaPatagonia Fishing Vest

In fact, the festival's strongest vest.

A true, modern, functionally oriented fishing vest for both freshwater and saltwater. Just a year ago . . I had a project to experience mountain stream fishing in HOUYHNHNM and purchased it personally. The deciding factors were the clean design, the coloring that I never get tired of, and the fact that when I put it on, it fits my body and is very easy to move around in. Not long after that, I heard about Fuji Rock. I decided to go light and carry the minimum necessary luggage, and this vest was the one I was looking for. Despite its appearance, the front pocket and rear zippered pocket have a lot of capacity. A folding chair, poncho, plastic bottle, insect repellant, simple emergency kit, sunglasses, wallet, Ziploc bag of bills, coins, stickers, phone, business cards, and a battery for recharging the phone all fit in the vest. So, we will take care of you again this year.

KAVUKaboo Chiluba Hat

Outstanding outdoorsy feel.

The canvas strap cap is synonymous with "kaboo," and I remember it as one of the items that played a part in the outdoor boom that flourished in the 1990s. After that, I personally went away for a while, but last year, when I was preparing for Fuji Rock, I fell in love with this Chiluba hat at first sight. It was inspired by the umbrella-shaped straw hats often worn by farmers in Southeast Asia (I don't know the official name). It was first introduced more than 10 years ago, and it is surprising that the basic shape has not changed since then. The material is soft foam, so it can be folded up and closed in a bag, and it has a chinstrap so it won't get blown away by strong winds. Perhaps because of its fresh look, I was often approached at Fuji Rock by people from overseas who said, "I like your hat! I'm sure it's because of its fresh look. Last year, we went for a subdued color scheme, but this year, a tie-dye pattern is our first choice. I guess it's all about standing out, right?

KEENKeen's Newport Series

This is also the footwear of the year!

Fuji Rock is a vast area of land to travel to and from. . Three full days can be quite tiring on the legs and back. Last year, the KEEN Newport provided comfortable support in such a harsh environment. Not only is it amphibious, but the tightness is good, and the cushioning provides good return when walking. And best of all, the toes are protected, so I don't have to worry about getting my toenails peeled off from stepping on them in a crowded place. As a result, I returned home safely without any injuries. . I really want to advocate the theory that KEEN Newport is the best. Now, I am introducing here the new colors of the Newport series for spring/summer 2005. I honestly can't decide whether to go for the simple black, navy, and gray, or the patterned ones. A necessity for modern festivals.

Yes, I admit it. I'm at Fuji Rock! I'm here at Fuji Rock!" I have no desire to upload a boastful Instagram. I'd rather just say, "I'll upload my Instagram once a day for the next three days," while I'm at it. Well, let me preface this by saying that a smartphone is indispensable for both uploading and viewing the Insta. In the wilderness where there is no power supply, it is not uncommon to find yourself without a battery for your phone.... There is no way to conveniently find a power outlet, and in my case, I am using both my iPhone and Apple Watch. This means that the battery runs low even more quickly. Belkin's "Valet™ Charger Power Pack" can charge an iPhone up to 3 times and an Apple Watch up to 8 times. Moreover, since it can charge two devices at the same time, it is extremely easy to use and is truly a must-have for modern festivals. I'll be updating my instagram more and more, not just once a day, so please stay tuned for more updates.

Functional clothing is best used in polar regions such as the snowy mountains, but Japan can no longer be considered a polar region only during the rainy season, or so I would like to say. It is depressing even now to think of our clothes getting wet and sticky, but putting aside the weather, which is out of our control, the only thing we can do is to be creative with our clothes. The North Face is the first brand that comes to mind when I think of "functionality x design. The North Face Unlimited Collection is a collection of elegant designs suitable for adults to wear. There is a sense of the footballer of yesteryear.

For some reason, polo shirts are gradually increasing in my wardrobe, but not the "old man's polo" as they are commonly called. However, they are not what is commonly referred to as "old men's polos," but rather those with modernized collar sizes, shapes, and body silhouettes, etc. I think it is finally time for me to change my T-shirt-only lifestyle. Speaking of polo shirts, I personally like Fred Perry's polo shirts, which are a part of the UK culture, because I feel they are solid, but I am also interested in these oddballs. Based on Fred Perry's early archives (the 50's), the uniqueness and retro feel of this item sets it apart from conventional items. The polo shirt's "neatness" and the chest gusset's "looseness. I like both sides of it. Personally, I think they resemble the uniforms of the football team of yesteryear. . Speaking of football, the final of the CL series will be held this weekend.

The band touched a new side of me.

God is in the details," as the saying goes, and watches are a major fashion detail. According to some people, a watch is a man's ornament that expresses his character, style, values, and even his upbringing. This makes perfect sense if you consider a watch as an ornament, a tool, or a form of self-expression, and if you choose design, price, function, or even brand. In this respect, the "Apple Watch" has brought us not only convenience, but also the fashionable ability to easily change the band. I used to think that I only liked basic colors and items, but I am quite fascinated by this series of bands, which can be changed when I get tired of them and are available in a variety of colors. . into the forest at night.

The "collective unconscious" is interesting. It is easy to understand by comparing it to fear. For example, if you were thrown out alone in a pitch-dark forest, you would be scared out of your mind. We have never had such an experience in the past, and we don't logically analyze the danger in our minds, but our instincts scream fear. The dangers that the human race has experienced throughout its history are stored in the depths of our brain's database, and we access them at a moment's notice to extract the sensation of fear. In other words, the brain is clouded at a deep level. In accordance with such "collective unconscious" (?), I chose the "Vinalia". I chose a long T-shirt from "Vinyl Archive," named "NIGHT DANCE. Sometimes expressive artists skip the logical steps and reach the deepest level in the shortest distance, and this photograph by Jiro Konami has such a magical appeal. Is it out of great respect for nature or a longing for the unknown that we find beauty in the awe we feel at night in the deep forest? It makes me think ... a lot.

I love heavy-weight T-shirts, and I recently bought a Camber pocket T-shirt, but I have a feeling that the heaviness of the T-shirt will be a detriment in the middle of summer. I also love Haynes' Japan Fit®, but it is a little thin for me to wear alone, and I realized that the best solution for midsummer is the BEEFY-T®. The details have been refined over the 70th anniversary of the pack T-shirt. The moderate thickness, the thick ribbing at the neck, and the American color palette. Let's go with this season's colorful and energetic trend and choose vivid colors such as gold and red. However, you will still need some basic colors, so it's a good idea to buy them all at once. Communication called sports.

After completing the Honolulu Triathlon, I was reminded that sports and the various experiences that accompany them are intense as communication. So, what can we do to make the quality of that experience even deeper and more interesting? The Bonks Wearable Transceiver was born from this idea. This is exactly what it sounds like: a tool for enjoying comfortable "conversation" during activities. The fit is comfortable for hard sports, the noise cancelling function is resistant to wind, the buttons are easy to operate even while running, and the structure is designed to prevent radio interference. Users can also create a group to talk with other Bonnx users, allowing them to run a full marathon while talking to each other. It would also be fun to use it for biking, snowboarding, and canoeing. I saw the movie "Manchester by the Sea" . It was produced by Matt Damon. Of course, the story, which could be called a tragedy, left a deep impression on me, but I was also impressed by the way Lee, the main character played by Casey Affleck, wore a Carhartt blouson in the movie. It was an ordinary outfit, but there was something about it that attracted me. Perhaps because I still had that image, I bought my first Carhartt outfit at a thrift store the other day. Every once in a while, I pull them out to wear them, but they just don't feel right. But this summer, I want to wear a hat for the first time in a long time to beat the oppressive Tokyo heat. In the midst of all this, I found a bucket hat by "Kijima Takayuki" at a select store. The design has elements of military and work, and it will go well with shorts in the coming season. Another advantage of this shop is that it is conveniently located near Omotesando Station, making it easy to drop in for a quick visit. When I visited just the other day, I picked up a blouson from "SANNEI. I liked the simple design of the moderately faded denim, reminiscent of old clothes, and couldn't resist trying it on. I want to wear it lightly.

Last fall, I impulsively bought a pair of wide wool pants from Steven Alan. The reason was that they had a moderately loose silhouette, the length was just right, and the black color made them not too casual. They were easier to wear than I had expected, and I wore them in heavy rotation until spring. I wanted to buy some new clothes from "Steven Alan" this summer, and I found the open-collar shirt in the photo at the flagship store in Shibuya. It is made of silk, a material that has been used since last year, and is stonewashed at the time of fabrication, making it very comfortable to the touch. The design has a slightly loose silhouette. The silhouette casually expands from the armpits to the hem, and the pockets on the chest are a nice touch. It will look great with chinos or shorts for a relaxed look in the coming season.

SCHAShah's knit beret

A convincing summer beret.

I have been wearing berets for more than ten years. I have repeatedly bought and tried on various kinds of berets, and although I have obtained several that I am satisfied with, I have yet to find a summer beret that fits me perfectly. Just by changing the material from felt, I felt that the beret did not fit well, or the texture was not enough. There must be many beret lovers out there who have the same problem. Here is some good news for those people. I found this cotton knit beret by "Shah" at Bloom & Branch, where I stopped by for an interview, and I have to say that it is the best beret I've ever worn. I like the texture of the knit back and the moderate hand-hold, and above all, it doesn't lose its shape, as knit berets tend to do, and keeps its beautiful beret shape when I wear it. So I immediately bought two colors, black and navy. I'm sure I'll be wearing them heavily this summer (I'm wearing one even as I write this, you know).

It's kind of nostalgic.

When I visited Colorado one summer, I saw many locals carrying Topo Designs backpacks with T-shirts, shorts, and the backpack in question. I thought it was strangely cool to see them wearing these backpacks in a very natural way, without any particular attention to fashion. Since then, I have been following this brand for some reason, and they have a good selection of items other than backpacks. This summer I picked up the mountain shorts shown in the photo. It is an ordinary, authentic style, but the red coloring of the webbing belt at the waist gives it a somewhat 90s-like appearance. I think this is exactly what we are in the mood for. On the hip pockets, there is the brand name of the outdoor brand. This name design is also very attractive.

I don't set a destination in particular, but just let things happen as they happen, and travel at will. I like it that way. The first time I traveled was in kindergarten, when I packed a backpack with candy, my favorite robot, and marbles and traveled alone to an unfamiliar city in the next town. The distance was only about two kilometers, but it was a great adventure for me at the time. Walking down an unfamiliar street while seeing new scenery, that alone was exciting to me, even as a child. Now that I am an adult, what kind of bag should I bring along on my trip? It is not a trip to the next town, as it was back then. . I prefer a strange, foreign land where I don't speak the language. If that's the case, I would like a bag that is easy to drive, has plenty of compartments, and is sturdy enough to be handled with a little roughhousing, as well as a reliable carry-on bag. And above all, it should have a look that makes the trip exciting, which is important. At the top of the list, I would like to recommend the TRANS4 L by Eastpak. Perhaps it is the texture of the nylon, or perhaps it is the familiar brand tag, but doesn't this carry-on bag somehow remind you of the backpacks you used to carry back in the day? Now, let's take this bag and go abroad for a week or so on a trip by myself, shall we? My wife might get mad at me, though. It's more of an escape than a trip. Amen.
