Three festivals we want to go to

Fuji Rock Festival (Fuji Rock) will be held for the 26th time this year. It is one of Japan's representative festivals, having established the foundation of outdoor festivals held in Japan. The first festival was held in the summer of 1997. It was held at the "Fuji Tenjinzan Ski Resort (now Fujiten Snow Resort)" in the midst of a typhoon, and the following year it was moved to "Tokyo Bayside Square" in Toyosu. The following year, it was held at "Tokyo Bayside Square" in Toyosu, and the year after that, in 1999, it was moved to its current venue, "Naeba Ski Resort" in Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture.

The lineup of performers includes a variety of young and big-name artists from Japan and abroad. The lineup is made possible by the fact that it is organized by Smash, a promoter that invites overseas artists and produces concerts. However, it is also interesting to note that the festival does not end there. The "ROOKIE A GO-GO" is known as a gateway to success for new artists, and the fact that the next generation is being discovered through an open call for entries shows the depth of the company's commitment. From the familiar faces of Kururi, Queen Bee, King Gnu, and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, to bands with their own unique activities such as Odontotte Dancing Country, cero, GEZAN, CHAI, and SAKE ROCK, to D.A.N., which has suspended its live activities, the festival is a great opportunity for new artists to be discovered by the public, Suchmos, and THE OTOGIBANASHI'S, all started their "Fuji Rock" career here.

This year's headliners have been announced as The Strokes, Foo Fighters, and Lizzo. 2022 will feature a total of nine stages and approximately 160 artists, down from the pre-Corona disaster, but perhaps we can expect more this year as the festival moves to Category 5 infection. However, if this is your first time visiting the festival, just be sure to take precautions against rain and cold. Fuji Rock is an extraordinary musical experience while directly experiencing the bounty of nature in a way that you normally would not.

I think it is up to the guests to decide what is particularly outstanding, but I am proud of the smiles on the faces of the guests, the sense of freedom that the great nature of Naeba brings, the offers from overseas artists to perform, the high rankings in overseas media, and the high reputation of the event from overseas.
