Beauty and coolness over sustainability.
Quon and The Inouye Brothers, an encounter of the soul.

KUON and The Inoue Brothers... . The former is known for its modern take on traditional Japanese techniques, while the latter is widely recognized around the world for its knitwear made from South American alpaca. The two companies, both with a focus on sustainability, have come together to collaborate on this project. In this interview, we talked not only about the items that will be shown at the pop-up store at Isetan starting Wednesday, October 25, but also about the current sustainability situation and the low wages in Japan. Mr. Horike of WISM, the company that brought the two together, joined the discussion midway through the session. It became a heated trilogy.

Who will you meet in this dress, what will you think about?

Cardigan ¥495,000

. The finished product is a patchwork cardigan and scarf. . It means that there is something cool enough to destroy the decorative sustainability as an object. How did you decide on the patchwork style?

Stone bridge:I spread out all the fabrics from "The Inouye Brothers" in a bar, and I saw that some knits were bumpy and others were bright like lavender, and I looked at them for a while. I looked at them for a while, and when I told Satoshi that this was the direction I wanted to take, he responded with a pictogram that said "👍" (laughs). (Laughs.) "Quon" didn't have a cardigan, so this is a completely original one for this occasion. Since it is a special one, it is all made in free size. The interesting thing about free size is that the silhouette changes depending on the person, or the expression changes. It changes depending on how you wear the clothes, or rather, how they fit your body. Moreover, they are reversible, and the reverse side of the white and khaki is a sashiko weave. The reverse side of the navy is indigo-dyed.

Muffler ¥59,400 , ¥69,300

The mufflers have a nice pop of color and such.

Stone bridge:The scarf is based on one originally made by Quon, and uses fabric from The Inouye Brothers. We wanted to make something simple like this. We don't have much experience with knitwear, but this was a really great material.

What is the price of each?

Stone bridge:The navy indigo-dyed cardigan costs 480,000 yen, and the khaki and white ones 450,000 yen (all tax not included). I use about the same amount as eight sweaters to make one piece, and it weighs 2.5~3.5 kg (laughs), so it can't be that cheap. Scarves use about the same amount of material as one sweater and cost either 54,000 yen or 63,000 yen, depending on the item (both prices are tax-exclusive).

The one that started it all in the first place.QUOON" and "WISMI think you mentioned in the interview with "The World of Clothing" that clothing has become more and more friendly to people, including in terms of functionality and texture. As a result, there are more and more clothes that allow people to spend their time comfortably without effort. On the contrary, I think the same is true for free size and weight, but I think it is rare to find clothes that make people think about how to wear them or challenge them to think about how to wear these clothes. In that sense, when I put on the sleeves of these clothes, I felt a sense of tension, and I felt that they were very valuable.

Satoshi:You said from the beginning that we should frame it (laughs). Don't wear it, decorate it (laughs).

Stone bridge:Of course I would be happy if you could wear it... (laughs).

Hori family:. we like people to think of it as "gold, Rolex, Quon, and Innobra" (laughs). . because they will increase in value in the future. But really, as I just mentioned, I think this dress is quite a strong style. . but I still think it's something chic.

. Yes, it's very chic.

Hori family:Even Satoshi's alpacas, in terms of SDGs, if you catch them and shear their hair, they will reject it and their wool will become strange. So, three to five adults gently hold the alpaca and shear it. Satoshi said earlier that the rest of the work looks light, but that's because they are doing heavy work on this fabric. On the other hand, "Quon" has always been committed to supporting the recovery from the earthquake, so we can't touch it in the halfway point.

These clothes are not just a product of ego and price, but rather a product that will make people stand up straight. Rather than being gentle clothes that anyone can wear, I think that this collaboration has resulted in clothes that can be worn by anyone, and that can be worn by anyone who wants to meet with anyone, or to think about anything.
