A manga artist's voice is fresh.

The YouTube channel "HOTEL CASSIOPEIA CHANNEL" established by manga artist Chika Umino and her friends is chaotic, surreal, and interesting. It has a "Ugo-Ugo-Ruga" feel, or the atmosphere of the early 90s, which is nostalgic and addictive. It is a good example of what happens when adults joke around as much as possible. Another recently launched manga channel, Kazuhiko Shimamoto's "ZEKKYO University," is also hot and funny. These are just two of my favorite YouTube tips.

Mountain Research

Mountain Research Sweater

Sweaters are a winter delight.

Today, there are many lightweight and warm materials, but in winter, I still want to wear a sweater. More specifically, I want a sweater that is middle gauge or larger, dense, and moderately heavy. Sweaters have a sense of richness and security that you cannot experience with modern functional clothing. The fact that they are a little stiff is also a charm. In fact, they are comfortable to the extent that they are a bit stiff. Mountain Research always releases sweaters with such richness in winter. This season, the cross-patterned Shetland sweater you see here. The subdued coloring matches the winter mood and lifts one's spirits. It has an open neck and a short length with a wide body, so you can enjoy layering. I'd like to wear it wildly chic with a turtleneck cut-and-sew and a flannel shirt inside. It's a wildly chic look. However, the number of brands that make sweaters like this has been decreasing. Convenient clothes are great, but I think the fun of styling is definitely better with this kind of sweaters.

Woolrich

Woolrich down jacket

Heavy Cutie.

I like heavy duty clothing. Tough construction, classic look, and very American. But I've worn a lot of vintage clothes from that time period. I want to wear the clothes of today. This "Woolrich Outdoor Label" Arctic Parka is based on a classic down jacket from the early 70's, but the buttons, pockets, hood cords, and other parts have been made larger, giving it a somewhat charming look. It has an atmosphere as if children's clothes were enlarged as it is. The lamb fur on the hood is fuzzy and looks like a stuffed animal. Rugged, straight line heavy-duty is fine, but right now I'm in the mood for something cute like this. Not heavy duty, but heavy cutie...something like this.

NEAT

NEET's pants

Neat not neat.

HOUYHNHNM's is also familiar with "NEET," a brand specializing in pants. The literal translation of the word means "neat" or "well-mannered," and as the name suggests, the brand is known for making "smart" pants. So when I saw these pants for the first time, I was surprised to see that they were also "neat" pants. I was surprised. The base is a pair of beach pants from the 80's, with a drawcord waist for easy on and off. The fabric is inspired by military liners, commonly known as gourd quilts, and is casual to the extreme. It is obvious that these pants are not typical "NEAT" pants, but when you put them on, the beautiful silhouette and the feeling of wearing them are "proper" and you realize that they are "NEAT" after all. Incidentally, the cotton padding is PrimaLoft, so the warmth is perfect. The wrinkled finish that gives the garment a worn look is also very tasteful and good.

Fishmans.

Fishmans.

Wish to make it a regular item!

I went to many live performances this year, but my best one in 2023 was "LONG SEASON 2023," Fishmans' first one-man tour in a long time. There is no end to the highlights, so I won't go into them, but the tension and immersion of "LONG SEASON," the title of the tour, was so great that even though each track was about 40 minutes long, I never got bored, but was drawn in and taken to a deeper and deeper place in my heart. It's not often you get to experience a live performance like this. I was so mesmerized that I was left in a state of lethargy for a while after the show was over. The photo is a cap I got at the sales. It had been a long time since the last Official March caps were released, and I personally wear them more often than T-shirts, so I brought home two colors at once. The "newhattan" body is also nice and simple. The logo is modest and easy to match, so I have a feeling I'll be wearing it a lot from now on. And when it gets old, it will look cool too. I hope they will release more color variations in the future as regular items like the "I'M FISH" T-shirt.

Nikko National Park Mountain Running Competition

I went to Nikko again this year. The location was perfect, with Toshogu Shrine as the start and finish point. But it was so cold. The hot water that we were served at the end of the tour soaked into my body. Next year, I will make a special effort to drink hot water.

TANNUKI x Bunka Fashion College

Tanuki x Bunka Fashion College Running Apparel

Crossover between function and fashion design.

I usually dress for running. From tops and bottoms to backpacks, hats, and socks, my criteria for selecting all items are based on whether or not I can run at the moment I think of it. I also believe that wearing sportswear with a purpose makes more sense to me personally than excessive marketing. The smart solution to my fussy desires is running apparel made in collaboration with Bunka Fashion College, Japan's premier fashion school, and Tanuki. The body is made of Dry Master Punch, a fabric that absorbs water and dries quickly and has UV protection. The relaxed silhouette with a mock neck, and the dynamic cutout on the right hem with reflectors, show a beautiful crossover between function and fashion design. This is the one and only running apparel that follows the identity of Bunka Fashion College. Moreover, this initiative is said to be ongoing, so we will keep an eye on it.

Charbon wool hoodie

Tie-dye dyed fine wool!

Of course, winter is cold. And if we go running in the mountains, we sweat during the activity, and if we stop to walk, we get sweat-cold. To prevent hypothermia, I try to adjust my body temperature by repeatedly taking off and putting on clothes. However, changing clothes each time is a hassle, so I am always on the lookout for a good middle layer. To that end, I would like to introduce a wool hoodie from Charbon, an up-and-coming running web brand launched in 2023. It has excellent warmth retention, moisture absorption, antibacterial and deodorant properties, and a truly natural feel against the skin. While taking advantage of the performance qualities of high-quality wool, functional details such as a three-dimensional high neck and thumbholes are added throughout, which are great in the mountains. The tie-dye dyeing has a great impact, and the exquisite match of material, design, and function makes this an enchanting item. It will come in handy on your mountain treks this winter.

Salomon (Japanese brand of haloperidol)

Salomon fleece jacket

It is a masterpiece, including cosmetics.

Do you know that Salomon's apparel is very cool? In addition to their excellent functionality as mountain gear, their designs have been greatly upgraded over the past few years. The lineup includes many stylish items that would fit in well in the city. Among them, my personal favorite is the "ESSENTIAL LIGHTWARM HOODIE" fleece jacket. This technical fleece material is lightweight, yet has excellent warmth retention properties, and is also breathable, so it quickly wicks away sweat during activities. The backside is brushed, so it feels good against the skin and keeps you moderately warm. Both sides are equipped with hand pockets, which are nice to have. They play an effective role in storing small items and keeping your hands and abdomen warm. A versatile middle layer that can be used not only for trail running, but also for skiing and hiking. We think it is a great product with excellent cost performance.

Like the Wind

Magazine "Like The Wind Japan edition #01

You can relate to each story.

Although I am interested in the culture and history related to running, I do not read any so-called specialized magazines. I have also not read many books on training. I have been running innocently because I genuinely enjoy running. However, I have sometimes read books like "BORN TO RUN" is one of those books that stirs my emotions. The first Japanese edition of "Like the Wind Magazine," a running magazine launched in London in 2014, has published a series of articles on running, from the impregnable Berkeley Marathons and the Shonan International Marathon to the My Bottle Marathon, to Kimi Tanaka, and more. The Japanese edition focuses on the stories of people who run, just like in their home country. Thanks to this, there is a lot of content that even a culturally-oriented, lazy runner like me can relate to. Like" tickles the hearts of runners. The Wind Japanese edition #01" will tickle the hearts of runners, so be sure to pick up a copy at a bookstore.

amachi.

Amati Tops

Shin Shin.

At the end of October, I went to an Amachi installation held at the famous "Azumabushi" restaurant in Shibuya. I had heard about "Amachi" from others and was interested in the brand. The designer, Tenchi Yoshimoto, has his roots in California, U.S.A., and is currently making clothes at the foot of the mountains in Matsumoto, Nagano. As this unusual background suggests, the Mr. Yoshimoto we met at "Aizaben" had a unique mood that is hard to describe. This piece of clothing represents his mood that is not easy to describe. The top, which was inspired by a scene of stones covered with snow, is made of off-white and flint gray colors. Wool jersey felted fabric is used to create a snowy look. The theme for this season is "Covered. Covered" means "covered. I think this is exactly the point of view that Mr. Yoshimoto has because he lives in Nagano. Actually, I am also from Nagano. Listening to Mr. Yoshimoto's talk made me want to visit his atelier.

RED EAR

Red Ear Boa Blouson

Superior processing technology.

At the Paul Smith showroom I visited the other day, I found a piece that caught my eye. It was a "Red Ear" boa blouson that looked as if it had been spray-colored. In case you are wondering, "Red Ear" is a small collection of "PS It is a small collection of "Paul Smith" and is based on military and work clothes, and is made with excellent processing techniques unique to "Made in Japan. This boa blouson features an inkjet print of artwork inspired by stainings. Staining is a painting technique used for abstract expression, characterized by floating and blotchy colors. This process, which could be mistaken for realistic workwear, is brilliant. Not only does it look great, but it is also made of Polartec's double-sided boa material, which has excellent heat retention properties. Holding this in my hands, I was reminded once again of Red Ear's earnest attitude toward clothing production.

This is the second installment of that series.

The logo, which was previously a print, has been changed to a badge, and the Souvenir-like atmosphere of these items is very appealing, so we picked them up. This is the second installment in the series. Among the items that have a somewhat uniform-like feel, my favorite is the cardigan. I like the old-fashioned colors and simple construction, as if a school teacher would wear it. As I recall, this cardigan is available in black as well as the color shown in the photo. For people like me who like basic things, this patch series seems to be very useful. They are already in stores, so it is worth checking them out.

GREGORY

Gregory backpacks

I finally understood.

One of the newest additions to my closet this summer is a Gregory daypack. In recent years, I've been using only a satchel, but I prefer a backpack on days when I carry my laptop and materials for meetings. Before I got this, I used to carry a well-designed, simple tote bag with my sakosh, but that didn't seem to work (laughs). (Laughs) So I decided that if I was going to choose a backpack, I should choose a masterpiece that I had never carried before. As it turned out, I was right. The "Daypack" opens all the way to the bottom, making it easy to get stuff in and out, and the sleeve pocket and mesh pocket on the inside are easy to use. The shoulder straps are thick enough to fit over your shoulder without tiring you out, even when carrying heavy items. The sand color, which blends in with a variety of casual styles, is one of my favorite points. I finally understood why it is a masterpiece after using it.

Yusuke Suzuki

Physical & mental strength.

The other day while having drinks with a rapper, he said, "I don't think I'll stay sober from here until New Year's Eve," which I thought was crazy... but we had that conversation at around 28:00 on Monday. I returned home feeling dizzy, and entered the world of electric blankets, thinking vaguely that it would be a battle of strength and stamina until New Year's Eve.

CABARET POVAL

Cabaret Povar flannel zip shirt

Inside and out.

As the weather gets colder, people are naturally reaching for cardigans and hoodies rather than shirts these days. There is also the option of wearing a cardigan over a shirt, but ironing a shirt is too much of a hassle on winter mornings when you want to stay in bed for even one second longer. However, there are days when I feel like wearing something with a collar for a change. I bought this flannel zip shirt from "Cabaret POVAL" because I thought I would want to pick it up at such times. The soft and warm flannel material is stress-free and wrinkle-free. The front is zipped, so it can be worn not only as an inner layer, but also as an outer layer in spring and fall. The silhouette is just right, not too big or too tight, and the checkered pattern, which is different from the heavy-duty US style, has an elegant look that is typical of Yuya's love for the UK. I was planning to put a badge or pins on it right after I bought it, but for now I'm in the mood to wear it simply with the collar up.

SPECIAL GUEST K.K.

Special Guest K.K. K. Scarf of

This is the year to be careful of loss.

As we get older, we become less tolerant of the cold, and gloves and scarves are a must in winter. Scarves are especially useful for shaved heads, as they can be wrapped around the head to cover the ears as well as the neck. However, it is not uncommon for me to lose my muffler after a season of getting drunk at clubs. It is really stupid to have to get a new one every season, I remind myself. So, with the muffler always somewhere in the real corner of my mind, I visited for the first time the other day with <Special Guest K. K. I saw this scarf at the exhibition of [special guest K. K.], which I visited for the first time the other day. The exquisite checkered pattern seems to go with any outfit, and in a good sense, I thought it could be used in everyday life without thinking about anything too complicated. Personally, I enjoy wearing scarves by checking out people on the street or on social networking sites and discovering new ways to wrap them. It would be great if we could have the opportunity to see the scene often seen in movies and TV dramas, where a scarf is naturally wrapped around the neck of a woman on a cold date or a woman who is interested in you, in our daily lives.

TETSUKO KUROYANAGI

Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's book "Sequel to Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window

Sequel after 42 years.

Everyone has seen (or should have seen) Tetsuko Kuroyanagi at least once. With her trademark onion hair and pin microphone tucked inside, she has aired more than 12,000 episodes of "Tetsuko's Room" since its inception on February 2, 1976. In August of this year, she celebrated her graduation, and looking at her through the television, it is hard to believe that she is 90 years old. While she has been active as an actress, TV personality, and host, she became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1984 at the recommendation of Sadako Ogata. It is a well-known episode that one of the reasons for her appointment was that the then UNICEF Director-General read "Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window" published in 1981. To date, the book has sold more than 8 million copies in Japan and has been translated in more than 35 countries around the world. The sequel to this non-fiction work about Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's childhood was finally published this year. The book is more meaningful in this day and age of wars going on all over the world and shitty politicians in Japan. After watching the NHK special on Sadako Ogata the other day, I was more moved by the book and felt I needed to hear more stories from my grandmother, who experienced the war and will turn 93 this year.

The value of things you decide for yourself.

In any genre, not just fashion, I think those who are in the public eye (media, etc.) are great, but I am equally or even more interested in those who are not in the public eye, and generally such people are maniacal and twisted. (I am also interested in people who are not "out in the open" as much as I am interested in those who are generally maniacal and twisted. One of my biggest influences is the president of a certain brand, who also rarely comes out to the public. I wanted to talk to him and have him recognize me, so I visited his office like a goldfish on days when senior photographers were shooting for websites and catalogs. At the time, I thought "what a maniac (a compliment)" when I saw him talking with the president, and after a gap of several years, I saw his posts on SNS and was simply overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge and the quantity of things he had done...! It will soon be the Master's Day.

We often hear of Shihasuki, but I don't think we hear so much about the other months: Mutsuki in January, Kisaragi in February, Yayoi in March, Ugetsu in April, Satsuki in May, Mizunazuki in June, Bungetsu in July, Hazuki in August, Nagatsuki in September, Kanashizuki in October, Shimotsuki in November, and Shihasuki in December. The Japanese-style month names of the lunar calendar are all very tasteful.

LE LABO

Le Labo Perfumes

Scent and words.

It is very difficult to use and convey words correctly, and I am always at a loss as to which one to use. For example, fragrance, smell, odor, and odor. Since the beginning of this year, I have been working with "Le Labo" to create a Series that is linked to the playlist, and I think this has been the most difficult year in my life in terms of trying to decide which words are appropriate to convey the expressions that I feel through my nose. I can understand different words, but how did we come up with words that are the same when said aloud but have different nuances when written in Chinese characters? That being said, the new perfume "LAVANDE 31" from "Le Labo" is literally starring lavender. It is a natural fragrance that anyone can easily wear, and I feel that using it will make you feel like a fresh person. There are many different types, so please try them out at the store and have a great deal of trouble deciding which one to choose.

Danner boots

Danner Lite in cordovan!

I spend most of my time in sneakers, but it's time for me to start wearing other shoes. I was thinking that boots would be a good idea since it is winter, and then I saw an item from "Danner" that caught my attention.... As the name "Danner Lite Cordovan" suggests, the upper of "Danner Lite" is finished with cordovan, and the luxurious material used is Horween Shell Cordovan. The name "Cordovan" is already exciting, but if it is "Horween," it is exceptional. As in the past, this pair is firmly made using the Danner stitch-down method, which is the company's specialty, but it is interesting to note that GORE-TEX is not used this time. I think this is a good decision since I don't think I would (or would not) wear cordovan on a day when it is likely to rain. The quantity is apparently limited, so if you are interested, check them out at Stumptown stores and Danner directly-managed stores.

BAUM

For winter dryness.

I am of the school that wants to be careful about what I use on my skin because I have sensitive skin that is easily rough and dry. If I don't, it will be rough. I was surprised to find out that my skin has a good amount of oil and moisture. I was surprised even by myself. However, since it is the season of dryness, I decided to be a little more careful from here on out and use "Baum". There are so many different brands that it is hard to know which one is right for you, but Baum's basic care is easy to understand: you only need two products. The simplicity of this product is delightful, as you only need to choose one of the four moisturizers you need from the Hydro Essence Lotion, a thick lotion, and the moisturizer. This time, we selected the second most moisturizing emulsion, "Moisturizing Emulsion. Designed by Mr. Kumano, it looks great even if you leave it on the shelf.
