ABOUT ESSENTIAL ITEMS Vol.01
A very personal staple used by that hip person.

Trends in fashion change rapidly, but people who choose their own items based on their own criteria, rather than following the latest fads, are definitely hip. With this in mind, we asked four fashion experts who have their own style what they consider "my staples" in their personal lives. Let's take a closer look at their wardrobes, taking a hint from the criteria they use to choose what they wear.

No.4_HOMARE KINOSHITA A classic is something that is subjectively and objectively unique to you.

-What do you consider to be "standard" items?

Under the trees:I wear a wide variety of clothes, so I can't really classify my style into a single genre, such as American casual, for example. My personal staple is something that fits in with any style when I coordinate with it.

You certainly have an image of mixing a variety of clothes, from designer to vintage.

Under the trees:Also, I think a classic item that has been around for a long time is also a requirement for a classic. They have earned the right of citizenship, and they do not fit only into a certain style.

-The items you picked up are all basic items, too.

Under the trees:Yes, they are. They are ordinary items, but each has its own character, so I think they fit in easily when matched with a coordinate, and can also be made to look a little more modern.

ITEM01_CANTATE denim jacket

-Let's start with denim jackets. This one is from "Cantata".

Under the trees:This is a third type trucker jacket that I purchased two years ago, and it was made with reference to the big sizes that you rarely find in thrift stores. I was looking for something basic and oversized, but couldn't find anything ideal. I found a jacket that fit my criteria perfectly, and I bought it immediately.

-What attracted you to it?

Under the trees:The construction of the garments is very solid. Big silhouettes of today tend to prioritize design, and it is rare to find a vintage-style garment that is both well-made and oversized.

-You are right, they use selvedge, donut buttons with laurels engraved on them, and other classic details.

Under the trees:It's no wonder it's called a vintage jacket. Also, a regular size denim jacket is mainly worn as an inner layer, but I like that this jacket can be worn with a thicker inner layer and as an outer layer in the winter.

You said you can wear it like a coverall.

Under the trees:That's how I feel about it. I tend to tuck in my jacket, so I like the styling of this jacket with thick pants and a tucked-in inner layer.

-The fabric is soft, too.

Under the trees:The color fades well, just like vintage denim fabric, and it feels dry and comfortable against the skin. I have washed it about four times so far, and I like the way it fades little by little, and I would like to continue to grow it carefully.

ITEM02_cliché wide pants

-Continuing with the wide pants, which are also quite basic.

Under the trees:These are the original "cliche" wide pants. They are also available in different colors, but we chose the most basic navy.

-It's a deep navy, almost black. What made you choose these pants?

Under the trees:When I started working at Cliche, I ordered only pants with unique designs, and there were no basic pants in the store. I made my own pants in a hurry, with two tucks and a straight, slouchy silhouette. The key point of these pants is that they are very ordinary, but the beauty of the waist, which is essential for tucking them in, and the ease with which they can be worn with everything from leather shoes to sandals, make them appealing. In the end, it is pants like these that I wear the most.

These pants are very useful and can be worn in any style.

Under the trees:The fabric is made of cotton polyester, so it has a sheen and creates a good level of elegance in coordination.

-I have the impression that this is a very elegant Dickies.

Under the trees:That is exactly the image I have in mind! Anyway, they are so versatile that you can't go wrong with a pair of pants.

ITEM03_10 EYEVAN glasses

The last one is a simple pair of black-buttoned glasses.

Under the trees:I bought these glasses from about two years ago. I have other black-framed glasses, but I like this one the best, including details such as the thickness of the rim. When I tried on this model for the first time, I felt it suited me well. It is not easy to find a pair of glasses, especially when you see them yourself, that you feel the same way about.

-That's true. It is difficult to choose the right pair of glasses, because a slight difference in detail can completely change the impression.

Under the trees:Of course, it was a good price, but I took the plunge because I thought I could wear it for the rest of my life because it was simple and suited my face shape.

By the way, you have a strong image of wearing glasses, but do you wear them as an accessory?

Under the trees:I have very good eyesight, so they are a perfect accessory. Incidentally, I started wearing dark glasses because I got a hint from women's outfits. Since I often wear my hair long, I often refer to the balance and atmosphere of women's outfits.

That is an interesting perspective. Listening to you, it is clear that you know what looks good on you. I wonder if that is why even when you combine different genres of clothing, you are able to dress in a way that is uniquely Kinoshita-san's.

Under the trees:Thank you (laughs). Of course, it is important to consider what you think looks good on you, but I also think it is important to consider the image others have of you. When I selected the three pieces for this project, I asked for other people's opinions after I had made my own choice.

-Did you find any differences in opinions between yourself and those around you?

Under the trees:I was told "denim," "wide pants," and "glasses," which matched my opinion perfectly (laughs). (Laughs) Once again, I realized that this was my standard.
