I am a fashion person, not a culture person. That's why I've always admired AOR. Keiji Kaneko, who runs "Kofukuburetecho," mutters to himself. This time, we will be handling clothing from "Adult Oriented Robes. The designer of this brand, Takumi Yuge, has music in his background. That's why I couldn't get my hands on it," said Kaneko. That being the case, he decided to create a collection called "AOR Classics. The casual "AOR" clothes were reviewed from the ground up and "remixed" by incorporating classic tailored techniques. What is the story behind it? Let Mr. Kaneko and Mr. Yuge tell you as much as they can.

Fashion buyer. After working as a buyer at the select store "Edifice", he became independent. After working on his own, he launched "Reshop" in 2015. Currently, he is the conceptor of the store and also supervises various brands and labels.

A cultural perspective mixed with the context of fashion adds depth.

I heard that your theme this time is to create "AOR" that Kaneko-san wants to wear.

Kaneko: I like the patterns and designs of "AOR" and have always had a longing for it. However, the brand has its own culture, and that was a big hurdle for me. Mr. Yumigami is a music lover, so I couldn't wear the clothes without knowing that.

Bow shaving: I often think that people are concerned about such things when I talk with Mr. Kaneko. Of course, I make my clothes with music in mind, but I also want people to wear them without worrying about that.

Kaneko: Of course it would be nice to wear something without knowing the music, but for me, that is not enough. I don't have the confidence to wear something cool without knowing the music.

I see that you sometimes think like that, too.

Kaneko: Actually, I have done two events with Mr. Yuge at "Reshop" in the past. I thought it would be nice if customers who like clothes and customers who like music could mingle.

Bow shaving: Speaking from a music lover's point of view, stores like "reshop" are a hurdle for me. People who like music tend to be nerds, so they tend to be indifferent to clothes. I started AOR because I thought it would be possible to fuse both of these sensibilities.

The company is a bridge between music and fashion.

Bow shaving: However, it is not easy. There are not many people who like both in good balance. So I wanted to create a line that would be accessible to people without cultural backgrounds. Since I couldn't do it myself, I thought it would be best to have a clothing geek like Kaneko-san supervise the project, so I approached him.

How long have the two of you known each other?

Kaneko: No, it was rather recently. I met you for the first time when we made bags for Outdoor Products and AOR.

Bow shaving: I have always been a women's designer, and I had no connections with the so-called men's world. Of course, I knew of Mr. Kaneko's existence, but I never had any contact with him.

Kaneko: I was aware of the existence of Yuge, which Mr. Yuge was working on.

Bow shaving: I had always been curious about "Reshop," where clothes lovers gather. It is a maniac store, and I had an ulterior motive to get close to Mr. Kaneko, its director (laughs).

And you will be selling "AOR" at "Reshop" as well, right?

Kaneko: When I visited the "AOR" exhibition for the first time, I saw the season's visuals on display. The brand has music in its background, but I saw that it had been incorporated into fashion. I am not a culture person, but I admired people in the culture and was interested in the clothes they wore. I wanted to incorporate clothes with such a scent into "Reshop," a store for clothing geeks. So we decided to carry them, and we even held an event at the store.

Bow shaving: We brought in a DJ booth and did it with the image of a fusion of fashion and music.

Kaneko: The mixing of cultural perspectives into the context of fashion adds depth to the styling, and simply makes it look really cool. However, there are not so many brands that can make this happen. At that time, my mood matched the mood of "AOR" very well. Mr. Yuge's lighthearted, in a good sense of the word, mood and the atmosphere of the clothes were linked, and I thought, "This could be good.
