Please tell us about your commitment to shoes.
I started rapping after being influenced by hip-hop, but I discovered jazz through sampling culture and was influenced by the suit styles of jazzmen such as Miles Davis, Ron Carter, and Roy Hargrove, and I almost always wear leather shoes when I perform on stage. You express your roots and commitment within yourself.
What do you think of the "Date" sneakers?
These sneakers have a design that I have never tried before, and it arouses my curiosity. When I saw them for the first time, I simply thought, "Oh, they look cool. It's the same with music, but challenging new things is always in my style. I was inspired to try them on.
I thought it was very much in line with your own style.
Thank you very much. The orange is a very striking color, so I intuitively thought that green would go well with it, and that's how I decided on the coordination. When I had a look at the lineup, I thought that the color scheme of all the "Date" sneakers was distinctive. Also, when I put them on, I found that they are very comfortable. I like that too.
You are very sensitive to color, aren't you?
I think you may be right. I tried to match them with green, but not just any green, and I thought this slightly faded color would go well with the "Date" sneakers. It is also important to match the color of the city. There are certain colors that go well with different places. I try to imagine the mood of the city, or get a whiff of it naturally, when deciding what to wear that day. This spring, I want to incorporate more and more color into my wardrobe.
If you were to wear "Date" in your daily life, what kind of situations would suit you?
I can totally wear them on stage, and they also look good when I go out to a party. I can imagine such a scene.

With roots in hip-hop and jazz, he is a musician with the unique title of rapper/wood bassist. He has released three original albums so far, and will perform at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL in 2019 and Sonic Mania in 2011 as a guest performer with Donguri Zu and Shōtaro Aoyama. He has provided music for the skate video "LENZ II & LENZ III" for TIGHTBOOTH, the DVD "Kazu Kokubo Part" for "STONP OR DIE" led by snowboarder Kazuhiro Kokubo, and commercials for Shiseido's "MAQuillAGE" and "PARCO".
