Outdoors and Fashion.
About Arc'teryx explored from both poles.

ARC'TERYX was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1989. The company's innovative products, created using the best materials and technologies available on the planet, have made its presence felt not only in the outdoors, but also on the streets. Extreme environments and urban life. Why does Arc'teryx attract people in these two extreme situations? We will hear the real voices of four Arc'teryx users, and try to answer the question from the two perspectives of the outdoors and fashion.

-How long have you been climbing?

Kageyama: I have been bouldering for 5 years. I started bouldering at the invitation of a model friend who went to a bouldering gym. Within a year, my friends grew and I started going to outer boulders. Within a year, my friends grew and I started going to outer crags.

-From a layman's point of view, how can you hook your finger in a place like this? I think.

Kageyama: When I first came here, I had no idea how to climb it. But it was a cool rock, so I was determined to climb it. I went up there many times and finally cleared it.

-Arc'teryx is a brand that originated as a climbing harness, but what kind of image did you have of it?

Kageyama: The image of mountains is still strong. Because of its high spec, I got the impression that it was worn by people who were engaged in serious outdoor activities.

-The one you are wearing today is the "Gamma MX Jacket". When did you get this?

Kageyama: That was about two years ago. I found it at a vintage clothing store where a friend of mine works, and bought it because I thought it was a cool color not only for wearing in the mountains, but also for wearing around town. This was my first Arc'teryx jacket.

-The stretch and excellent breathability make it a great softshell for rock climbing.

Kageyama: Yes, I do. However, when climbing rocks, I try to choose clothes that I don't mind getting dirty or rubbing, and I wear this softshell when warming up and during breaks. It is windproof, so it is not cold at all just by wearing it over a long T. It is also stretchy and easy to move around in. I often use it as an inner layer when camping. It is very convenient and can be used in various situations.

-The chalk bag on your waist is also from Arc'teryx.

Kageyama: The exquisite orange color was the deciding factor. Compared to other brands' chalk bags, Arc'teryx's chalk bags are more stylish. They are also very easy to use.

-For example, in what way?

Kageyama: I like that the bag can be opened and closed with a single touch. The cord lock on my previous chalk bag was difficult to open, and I was in a hurry when I climbed with the bag closed (laughs). (Laughs.) And even though the bag is easy to close, the chalk doesn't leak.

-Wear and chalk bags are both crisp and brightly colored.

Kageyama: In Japan, many people choose basic colors, but many overseas climbers are fashionable and play with colors. It is similar to skaters, and I really like that. Regardless of whether you are good or bad at it, it is better to enjoy fashion if you have the chance to do so.

-You also like Arc'teryx from a design standpoint.

Kageyama: Yes, I agree. I feel that the design is sophisticated and many of the items are designed in an urban manner rather than so-called "outdoor". They blend in with the city, yet are still highly functional. Since I started climbing, I have become more interested in Arc'teryx. When I see people wearing Arc'teryx when I'm climbing, I always say, "Whoa! I'm always impressed.
