Ame no Parade and TATRAS's resort collection that takes you back to summer.
Welcome to the summer of TATRAS

Ame no Parade and TATRAS's resort collection that takes you back to summer.

TATRAS, which offers a lineup of urban casual wear, has introduced a resort collection full of a relaxed mood. The source of this collection's imagery is a seaside sunset. When people are bathed in orange sunlight while listening to the quiet sound of the waves, various emotions come to mind. Kohei Fukunaga and Mineho Osawa of "Ame no Parade," a band supported by its genre-less sound, put their sleeves on the clothes that express such a beautiful scene. The two will enjoy their summer outfits one step earlier.

Interview with Kohei Fukunaga & Mineho Osawa

Clothing that evokes the openness of the seaside.

What kind of fashion do you two like?

Osawa: I used to tend to choose black clothes, but since I lightened my hair color, I have started wearing brown and gray clothes. In terms of taste, I like mode fashion.

Fukunaga: I wear street-style clothes and silhouettes, but my boom is to express myself with brands that don't look like street-style clothes. I like a wide range of clothes, both new and vintage, and I choose brands from traditional to mode in a genre-less manner. I think I like to mix things up.

What kind of image do you have of the TATRAS brand?

Osawa: You collaborated with Keith Haring before, right? That was very cute and memorable.

Fukunaga: I had a strong image of down jackets, but this time, when I was allowed to wear the resort collection, I learned a new aspect of the brand, saying, "There are also clothes like this.

The collection is a resort collection, with retro illustrations of palm trees as a source of inspiration for the seaside sunset, a pile polo shirt and hoodie woven with the TATRAS monogram pattern, and a set-up of an open collar shirt and shorts that can also be worn in town, Relaxed items are also available.

Osawa: The shirt has a cute palm tree print in gradient. The design is also nice with a hem that can be squeezed.

Fukunaga: The material was soft and comfortable. It was really perfect for a vacation. Maybe it was the fact that we shot by the sea, but I felt a great sense of freedom. It changed my mood. Not only that shirt, but all the clothes were very cool and relaxing.

Osawa: It felt like summer all at once, didn't it? The sunset-inspired colors of the clothes, which Kohei normally doesn't wear, looked great on him.

Fukunaga: Really? Thank you (laughs).

Osawa: Also, I was interested in the polo shirt. It has the brand logo subtly embroidered on the chest, giving it a luxurious feel.

What kind of situation would you be in if you were to relax wearing the resort collection?

Fukunaga: I like to go on vacation, stay in a luxurious room, and just relax. Fishing is also a great way to relax (laughs).

Osawa: The ocean is nice for me, but I would like to bathe in the forest. I want to be healed by being bathed in negative ions (laughs). I am from Kagoshima, and I like camping in nature or having a picnic with good friends.

You are both from Kagoshima, aren't you? How did you come to form a band?

Fukunaga: We went to music school together and are classmates.

Osawa: We were originally in separate bands, but I invited them to join together.

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of your formation. Looking back, how do you feel?

Fukunaga: I had a lot of experiences. It was a good milestone for me to think about what I would like to do and be in the future based on these experiences.

Osawa: It was a decade in which many things happened, such as members leaving the group and the Corona disaster. Especially during the period when we were not able to perform freely due to the Corona disaster, we were able to take the time to face ourselves and pursue the music we wanted to play.

Fukunaga: While we were pursuing what we wanted to do, there was a period of time when we were working while thinking that we had to produce results, and we were more oriented toward songs that would please people. Even if we got the response we wanted, it sometimes did not resonate with us in the end. Now we are pursuing what we want to express as "Rain Parade," and I think it is healthier that way. Even if we don't get results from that, we are satisfied with it. It is more difficult to continue the band with such a stance, but it is worthwhile.

You said that the new song "Melt," released in April this year, is also full of the kind of expression that "Ame no Parade" wants to achieve.

Fukunaga: That's right. Since we made the song "paradigm" last year, we have been expressing what we really think is good. We have reexamined the song, the jacket, and the product sales, and have created a total "rain parade".

I think it is because the members have known each other for a long time that they are in tune with each other and share the same vision.

Fukunaga: Of course that is true. I feel that the members are expanding my ideas for the songs. I am not a drummer, so Jitsuneho helped me to find out what I could not express in terms of the beat. Of course, the same goes for the other parts. That's how the songs are being refined.

Osawa: Melt" is a song that I built from the beat. Kohei asked me to create an Afrobeat-like image, so I listened to various songs and focused on rhythm and African percussion sounds. A single kick can change the mood of a song, so I made detailed adjustments to the sound, rhythm, and tone.

If we are not that particular about what we want to express, we will not be able to do what we want to do.

Fukunaga: Yes, it is. But it's fun. That's why I want to do it.

Lastly, please tell us about your future activities.

Fukunaga: For now, we would like to make an album this year. We are currently creating songs that we feel good about, so we would like to release a compilation of those songs and go on tour. We want to enjoy doing what we want to do with people who say they like what we do.

Osawa: Of course in Japan, but gradually we are getting more and more gigs in Asian countries, so I hope we can do an Asian tour.
