What is your favorite line of shoes?
Saeki:Since I play street basketball and 3X3, I often wear sneakers based on running shoes or recovery sandals while working and traveling. I wear shoes that are easy to move in during games, so I am conscious of walking comfort and lightness even in my daily life. In terms of my favorite color, all I buy myself are black. So this "Versa" fits my concept quite well.
What are the differences between 3X3 and 5-man basketball?
Saeki:3X3 is an image of a 5-on-5 basketball game with only the close games at the end of the game. While it starts out with a lot of intensity, it is over in a very short time. Also, the court is very small.
The shorter the distance, the higher the load. It seems to put a lot of strain on the legs.
Saeki:During play, the laces are tightened so that there is pressure on the feet, and the repetitive running and stopping is quite hard on the feet. Therefore, I usually like to make it as easy as possible. When I stand in the store, I often wear shoes with enough cushioning to allow me to run.
You wear black shoes most of the time.
Saeki:Simply because they look cool. Even though we say "black," we use various kinds of black, such as grayish black, shiny patent black, and mesh black. It makes me happy when people notice the differences between them. In that sense, this "Versa" is a matte and elegant black.
What was your image of Descente?
Saeki:I remember buying a pair of half pants from a sporting goods store when I was in elementary school. I got the impression that the fashion has evolved recently, and when I saw Descente's clothes at a select store, they had suits that were all black, which appealed to me as someone who loves black. I was attracted to them because I love black. Many of the Descente shoes we carry are also black, so I'm interested in them.
