The lineup includes a total of 10 types of popsicles made with Hokkaido honey and milk, including fruit and chocolate, ranging from refreshing to richly sweet on the palate. In addition, original T-shirts and caps are also available.
Cool down your burning body with ICETACHE.
The event is billed as an "omnibus exhibition," and there are a wide variety of exhibits, but ICETACHE stands out from the crowd as the most unique among them. ICETACHE, which participates in the "food" category, is an ice cream specialty store that was born in a skate park in Sapporo, Hokkaido. The shop offers unique and delicious popsicles with a backbone of extreme sports such as skating, surfing, and snowboarding, as well as music, art, and tattoos.
A unique exhibition with a new interpretation of vintage.
Next up is LOT, STOCK & BARREL, which sells vintage items in downtown Los Angeles. The owner of this store, Benjamin Phillips, has worked for some of the most famous American casual brands such as Filson, Levi's®, and Ralph Lauren. In addition to displaying vintage items owned by Benjamin Phillips, the store also features items created in collaboration with JOURNAL STANDARD.
Of particular note are the embroidered items on the G-jans. The comical graphic design with an oriental mood, and the fact that the embroidery was all done by hand is a surprise to us. A vintage item that has value even if nothing is done to it, is given a new twist to create a different value. It is an approach that cannot be overlooked as an art form.
An LA concept store that straddles the worlds of art and fashion.
."Pakkard ( Packard) is a concept store with an art gallery in Los Angeles. This time, they are exhibiting works by David Sebastian, an artist they are pushing, as well as photographs taken by Rick himself, the founder of "Pakkard". Other items on display include their original clothing and other items.
Excellent graphics that are exquisite and relaxed.
The work depicting glossy motifs with a pop touch is by Australian creator "MURCUS DIXON. He is known for his work on graphics for the skate brand PASS~PORT SKATEBOARDS and as a designer for his own brand COME SUNDOWN.
."For the "Omnibus Exhibition," the theme is "yearning for the Australian suburbs," and T-shirts, sandals, and open-collared shirts are created with motifs of wild women, drunken men, and native plants. Although many of the works use women as motifs, the graphics are exquisitely balanced and relaxed, creating items that are somewhat eye-catching.
."Modern space created by "House Industries.
Last but not least is the exhibition of "House Industries," a typography group representing the United States. The modern fonts created by House Industries have attracted many companies and people, including collaborations with Maison brands and Eames. The fixtures created by House Industries are based on the motif of a Japanese cultural "yatai," or food stall, and are filled with T-shirts, tableware, and other items featuring their font designs.
Andy Crews, founder of House Industries, came to Japan for the event. We were able to talk to him.
Andy CruzI am influenced by music such as punk rock and the unique American automotive culture of hot rods. I have learned a lot from the painting style of hot rods, which is a culture of customizing one's car by changing parts and painting it. I have also been influenced by Japanese culture. The yatai fixtures we are developing at JOURNAL STANDARD are a perfect example of this. I have also taken many hints from the composition and coloring of Japanese package design.
Andy CruzWhat is important to you when designing? Satisfaction. Satisfaction through design leads to a sense of joy and accomplishment. It helps me to clear up problems. I want my customers and clients to feel the same satisfaction. I want to make people happy through my designs.
."The Omnibus Exhibition" also features collaborative items from "The Mattson 2" and "House Industries," which held an in-store live performance during the exhibition. In fact, Andy and the members of "The Mattson 2," Jared and Jonathan, are also close friends in private.
Andy CruzWe met through a mutual friend. He gave me a copy of their recordings as a gift, saying, "You'll like their music. The Mattson 2" has a lot of elements of rock and jazz in one piece of music. It was unique, and I liked them immediately. Many times when I held exhibitions of "House Industries," I invited them to perform in front of the audience.
Jared. At first glance, Andy's designs are simple. However, if you look closely at his work, you will see that it is not a simple creation. Each design is a delicate work of art, and is highly refined. I feel there is a similarity with the music of "The Mattson 2. I think that's why we respect each other so much.
Jonathan. We have collaborated several times before to produce goods. All of them have been great, and this is no different. I'm very excited to think about this item going around Japan and reaching all kinds of people with "House Industries" and our music.
As Jonathan mentioned, "House Industries" and JOURNAL STANDARD's efforts will go beyond the "Omnibus Exhibition" and travel to various stores from north to south. Don't miss the chance to pick up a stall filled with the worldviews of both companies and the goods lined up there!
In addition, new artists are standing by for the "Omnibus Exhibition. If you have already been to the exhibition, why not visit "JOURNAL STANDARD Shibuya" again? Of course, even if you have not yet seen the exhibition, there is no harm in visiting. You will be filled with new discoveries.
