Omotesando and its surroundings, as recorded by Riko Narumi .

Omotesando and its surroundings, as recorded by Riko Narumi .

Riko Narumi is always natural. Riko Narumi , an actor, gives off such an impression. While she exudes an overwhelming presence as an actor on the screen, in her photographs, she appears at her own pace and without any pretensions. Wearing a mountain parka, a staple of THE NORTH FACE PURPLE LABEL, Riko Narumi took a walk in Omotesando, a town she says she is familiar with. We asked him to record the city's changing appearance.

Put only what you need in it , and go for a walk at night.

The city has the impression of buildings and concrete, but if you look carefully, you will notice that nature is actually everywhere, such as flowers and trees blooming on roadsides, parks, and the wind blowing off buildings. Such "nature in the city" has something in common with The North Face Purple Label's outdoor wear that fits in with the city.

Among these, the mountain parka is known as a standard item that has been a staple since the brand's birth. The fabric is a 65/35 bay head cloth, a high-density weave made from a 65:35 blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton . . The fabric is durable and functional, yet feels like cotton to the touch. It has four pockets that can easily fit a paperback book , so you don't need a bag when you go out.

Riko Narumi, clad in the brand's signature clothing, walked the streets of Omotesando, a town she is familiar with, and its surrounding area. The North Face Purple Label's key phrase is "to record the nature that can only be found in the city," and we asked Riko Narumi to record the city and its nature in her own photographs.

During the filming, I was impressed by your natural appearance as you faced the camera. Is she usually calm?

Narumi: When I work as an actor, I am given a role to play and I do my best to play that role according to the story of the film, but today, I was able to be natural because I was walking around the town where I usually walk.

The location was in the Omotesando area , which was requested by Mr. Narumi.

Narumi: I have been coming to this place for a long time, so when I was asked to choose a town in Tokyo that I was familiar with, I thought this would be a good place.

What is your impression of this place?

Narumi: . it's changing, isn't it? If things change too much with all the new things, it can be hard for people to feel attached to them because their feelings can't keep up. Therefore, I hope that the good things will be preserved. Of course, there are some things that will never change.

What do you usually do when you come here?

Narumi: . I am nocturnal, so I rarely go out in the daytime (laughs). . So I take walks around here during the dark hours. . Today was the first time in a while that I walked in the daytime, and it was refreshing. I wondered if everyone was at work at this time of the day (laughs)! I thought (laughs).

When you are working as an actor, isn't it very important to observe people?

Narumi: . When I am out and about, I am usually listening to music and thinking. . While I am in my own world in this way, when I am in a coffee shop or in a store, I may be unconsciously looking at other people.

Today, Mr. Narumi took some photos of the city. What did you have in mind when you turned the camera on?

Narumi: . I was half-truthful and half-joking when I said that I was conscious of my quota (laughs). . I took pictures of moments that I thought were beautiful, or scenery that I thought was interesting. . I shot intuitively, so it is difficult to put it into words.

I think you used to be so devoted to photography that you wrote a series of articles on it.

Narumi: I don't take pictures anymore these days. I don't even take pictures with my cell phone. I don't back up my photos, so they disappear every time I change phones.

What kind of changes did you see there?

Narumi: I wonder why. I have ebbs and flows in terms of what I like, whether it is music or movies, and I may or may not be passionate about them at different times. . . So, there may come a time in the future when my passion for photography will be rekindled, but there is no reason for it.

By the way, what are you into these days?

Narumi: I guess it's music. In terms of genres, I like soul music, which I have always loved. Recently, I have also been listening to Japanese hip-hop music such as Jin Dogg and Jinmenusagi, and I would like to go to their live performances.

That's a surprise. Do you listen to records?

Narumi: No, it's a sub-subscription. . Nowadays, you can watch videos on Youtube, etc. very quickly. I mentioned that I hope the city will not change, but I think the newest things are very convenient in some areas.

So, you take a walk while listening to music.

Narumi: . yes, I am. I'm not very good at staying at home . I like to go out at night. I go out for drinks, and that kind of time gives me a chance to relax. I like to go for a walk while tipsy, and listen to my favorite music.

What do you wear in your private life?

Narumi: I wear jeans and leather shoes on my feet most of the time . . I can walk for about an hour in leather shoes. My tastes are eclectic, and once I like something, I like it to the hilt. For example, once I decide to buy a certain brand of socks, I will always buy that brand. It's been like that for a long time. Once I trust a brand, I trust it for a long time.

You also like T-shirts, don't you?

Narumi: Especially for vintage music T-shirts, if I can't find what I'm looking for in a store, I look it up on the Internet and search persistently. I used to bid on vintage T-shirts at auctions, but recently I've told myself to keep it to a minimum (laughs).

What role does fashion play for you?

Narumi: Is it a tool for self-expression? It is a way to show that there is this side to me. So it varies from day to day. It changes depending on the music I listen to and the people I meet.

What did you think of The North Face Purple Label's mountain parka that you wore today?

Narumi: I don't usually wear this kind of outdoor clothing, so it felt very tough and fresh. . I had never been involved in outdoor activities before.

What kind of situations would you like to wear it in your daily life?

Narumi: It has lots of pockets, so it looks good for an evening stroll, with only the essentials in it. I think it would also be nice to wear with a skirt or something like I did today. . Also, if I ever go outdoors, I would like to wear this.
