Among the many stores, the Kyoto store, which has a long history, celebrates its 20th anniversary as well as the brand. In this memorable year, the Kyoto store will be relocated to Fujii Daimaru, and on September 23 (Sat), it will be reopened as a new street-level store.
The new Kyoto store has a variety of noteworthy contents upon its opening. Let us introduce just a few.
From VOU, a store and gallery that opened in Kyoto in 2015 and is attracting attention from Japan and abroad. It will be permanently installed in the store as a shop-in-shop.
Items by DAISAK, a Kyoto ceramic artist, are continuously selected at the above store "VOU".
T-shirts by Funny Dress-up Lab, an artist who creates collages of dress-up stickers for mini 4x4s .
In addition to those introduced, a number of collaborative items by artists associated with Kyoto are also available. The selection of unique lineups with a twist is consistently refreshing.
On September 22 (Fri.), the day before the opening, a reception party will be held to celebrate the relocation and reopening as well as the 20th anniversary of the restaurant's founding. A fresh fruit sour specialty restaurant, "SOUR." and that a catering service for baked rice cakes will be provided by "Jinmado," a long-established shop in Kamigamo, Kyoto. The event will be enlivened by the old and new stores that have been a part of Kyoto's history. To top it off, Kyoto-based instrumental band "Nabowa" will perform a special live concert. Entrance is free.
We can expect to see many more interesting projects at the "Journal Standard Kyoto" store in the future. We hope to visit the store on a regular basis.
