Taro Okamoto . He is known as a historical figure who has influenced many people by creating innovative works that shattered the stereotypes of art.
The Tower of the Sun" is probably the most popular of his works, built in 1970 for the Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo), the first world's fair to be held in Asia. 40 years later, the tower is still a familiar symbol of Osaka. After the exposition closed, the tower's interior, from the first to the top floors, was closed to the public, but in March of this year, it opened to the public.
The exhibition "The Road to the Tower of the Sun" featuring works from the 1960s, when the Tower was built, will be held at the Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum of Art.

In this exhibition, visitors can view works by Taro Okamoto before and after the Osaka Expo . Highlights include the process by which he shifted from painting many motifs tightly packed with a delicate touch to a more spellbinding style, such as Sanskrit characters.
