JAMAICA 1982," a collection of photographs by photographer Masataka Ishida documenting Jamaica in 1982, which was the subject of our May 1 issue, will be released on Friday, July 6.
In this photo book, the realities of the region are condensed into a single volume, taken during an extended stay of 53 days at a boarding house in the ghetto of Kingston, Jamaica's capital city, 36 years ago. At the time, these photographs were the catalyst for Mr. Ishida's memorable professional debut as a photographer.
In conjunction with the release of the book, a photo exhibition will be held at the gallery attached to the bookstore "BOOKMARC" in Harajuku. Selected works from the book will be on display and for sale from July 7 (Sat.) to 16 (Mon.). In addition, an opening party will be held on Friday, July 6, including a book signing by Mr. Ishida, and a talk show will be held on Sunday, July 15.
In addition, to commemorate the release of "JOURNAL STANDARDPhoto T-shirts in collaboration with "BOOK MARC" will be sold at "BOOK MARC" and "Journal Standard Omotesando" , so check them out as well.

Masataka Ishida
. Born in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture in 1958. Graduated from the Department of Imaging Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University. Author of "Black Groove" (1999), "Alternative Music" (2009), and "Soul Flower Union: Unraveling Song Ruts" (2014). He is currently writing a series of articles, "A Distant View with Sound," for the Artes electronic edition. CD jackets he has photographed include Eikichi Yazawa's "The Original 2" (1993), Faye Wong's "The Best of the Best" (1999), Soul Flower Union's "Winds Fairground" (1999), "RELAXIN'WITH LOVERS" (15 films in all, 2000-2018), Jane Birkin, Taraf de Haidouks, Nusrat Fateh Ali Haan, Zubons, Carnation, Yuji Hamaguchi, LIKKLE MAI and many others. He has traveled to 56 countries.
