An illustrated look back at 70 years of Adidas history. Nigel Graff's exhibition is now on view!

adidas celebrates its 70th anniversary by introducing numerous masterpieces and classics to the world. To commemorate this anniversary, an exhibition "adidas Originals Flagship Store Tokyo feat. NAIJEL GRAPH" is currently being held at the adidas Originals Flagship Store Tokyo in Harajuku.

H" for HOUYHNHNM's, magazine covers, graphics for apparel brands, and even merchandise for the Beastie Boys. He is a multi-talented graphic artist,Nigel graphThe exhibition will feature works by Mr. Kosaka, who depicts people associated with "adidas" and its famous kicks. Kitschy graphics using adidas shoe boxes and shopping bags as canvases line the walls. Here are some of his works!

The first artist that comes to mind as an adidas favorite is the hip-hop group Run DMC, which was a rare collaboration between a sports brand and an artist at the time.

The "Superstar" has been widely popular among the fashion crowd. It is a classic kicks that continues to be loved even now. Although it is not well known, they were originally basketball shoes.

One of the artists who liked to wear "Campus" was the Beastie Boys. The graphic here is a sampling of their famous photo.

As mentioned above, "Campus" is synonymous with the Beastie Boys, but other artists such as H.R. from Bad Brains also wore them.

One of the most iconic figures at adidas today is Kanye West. His "YEEZY" brand has been an explosive hit. By the way, the illustration he drew on the shopping bag is fantastic.

I have only briefly introduced a few of the graphics, but there are many more works on display. What I was personally interested in when I saw this exhibit were the Gallagher brothers of oasis, who are also well-known as adidas lovers. When I was a student, I used to imitate them and wear adidas a lot.

Nigel Graf's work offers a glimpse into the history of "adidas" and its ties to culture. Looking at it again, adidas is great, isn't it? And Nigel Graf's graphics are so cute.
