What is the gravity that film brings? The answer will be answered at cobird's solo exhibition "Kinema" at "Ocak" in Kochi.

The scale of movies is endless: "The whole country cried," "won a gold medal at a prestigious film festival," "starring a hot and handsome actor," "the latest film by a famous director," "total production cost of several hundred million yen," "rave reviews from celebrities," "five stars on review sites," ......, etc. There is no end to the number of such comments. In this day and age, we are so easily influenced by these measures that we should watch films based on our own criteria, regardless of the criticisms of others, and give our greatest praise and encouragement to those films that have moved our hearts.

A solo exhibition by contemporary artist cobird, who expresses films from a new perspective, will be held from July 3 (Fri.). The name of the exhibition is "Kinema.

The location is OKYAKU, a concept store by Daisuke Yokoyama, designer of "Sasquatchfabrix." and others, located along the quiet Kagamigawa River, not far from the center of Kochi City.

Covard, who mainly exhibits collage works, forms unique works by cutting printed images into strips of lengthwise and crosswise strips and inserting them one by one in alternating layers like a textile structure by hand, without using adhesives.

The resulting work is as graceful and dignified as the soft yet strong fabric woven by the warp and weft yarns.
