The too dazzling residue of travel captured by New York photographer Colin Sassingham. It is a book that makes you want to travel irresistibly.

Now that we can no longer travel freely, content that reminds us of this act has become precious. It could be music, a movie, or a photograph.

This trip, or rather, the upcoming release of New York photographer Colin Sussingham's photography book, Disappear Into Earth, is just that kind of book.

In 2019, with the support of NIKE SB, Colin released "BOYS: A DECADE OF SKATEBOARDING IN NYC," a photo book capturing the NY skateboarding scene from 2008 to 2019, and he chose a new theme for this year's book: a documentary of the six road trips he took between 2014 and Colin's new theme was a documentary of six road trips he has taken over the past 20 years, starting in 2014.

The images in this work are Colin's own personal records of landscapes, objects, friends, thoughts, curiosities, etc., but they are also strangely linked to the records and memories of each person who sees them.

Last summer in HOUYHNHNM'sHe showed his deep love for photo books.Mr. Kunichi Nomura sent a message on the publication of this book.

PROLOGUE

I don't want to say anything selfish about other people's photos, and I am not qualified to do so, but I like to look at photos. I think, dream, and remember many things from a single photograph. I used to get a camera and take pictures of myself while traveling, but I was always disappointed with the prints I received after developing the film. The photos I took were so far removed from the impressions I had in my memory that I quietly put the camera down. It seems that photography is not for me, and I would rather write down the scene and my feelings than take a picture of it, which would be closer to the scene at that time.

Colin's photos are different. As a skater, his photos remind me of a time that will never come back. It was a time when I was still young, when I would wander around and dream about various things, and then wake up from those dreams. I was surprised to find myself trembling at the beauty of the scenery, my heart shaking at things that didn't matter. Those were the days when I thought I was in the middle of the world one moment and the loneliest person in the universe the next.

I'm sure those times are what it means to grow up. I always think that photographs transcend time. No matter when or where the photo was taken, it creates a moment that connects you to an emotion that you have forgotten even when you had it. And photographers are very good at capturing those moments. They capture it and draw the viewer into the story that unfolds behind it. I saw the moments through the viewfinder of Colin's eyes, whom I had only met once before, and I saw my own past on the page. The Indiana sunsets that Colin saw became the sunsets I once saw in Texas, the sentiments of days gone by, my own.

And it was the closest thing I could do to travel now that this freedom of movement has been banned and the act of travel has become more expensive and unaffordable than anything else.

So it is truly "TRAVELLING WITHOUT MOVING".

Incidentally, this work is a "work of art" that handles many highly sensitive works of art.StacksIt will be published by

¥3,520

In addition, a photo exhibition will be held at gallery commune in Hatagaya to coincide with the publication of the photo book, as well as the release of Photo T.

¥6,600

Art itself seems to be perceived in a different way than it was before Corona. It would be too violent to call it a symbol of freedom. Why don't you come in touch with art that enriches your heart?
