Shimokitazawa is changing its shape like a living thing every day through redevelopment. It is a town where people who aspire to the arts gather, a town of bars where they seek connections, and in recent years, a town lined with secondhand clothing stores and select stores.

In such a town where various Japanese cultures intersect, a new movie theater will open. Its name is "K2. The name "K2" comes from the fact that it will be built in Kitazawa 2-chome, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, and from "K2," the world's highest mountain in the Karakoram Range.

The selection of a film by Hamaguchi, who is creating a new whirlwind in the Japanese film industry, shows the spirit of "K2".
